We stood in line to have the nurse look at the vaccine records to see if the children needed to catch up on any before school started. There was a woman in front of me who had her childs record and apparently there were quite a few entries that were not recorded. Not a big deal, she just has to have the ped's office fill in the dates. Mom was embarrased and said it looked like she belonged to "one of those hippy cults". The nurse laughed along with her.
I was next and smiled as I give her the vaccine exemption form showing that my child will not get ANY of the vaccines, since you get to pick and choose in TX. The nurse wouldn't even look at me. I could only imagine what she was thinking about me being in some "hippy cult".
I am glad that it was that easy. I always get a little nervous when I hand in the exemption forms.
