Excruciating

Please help

I'm currently 23 weeks pregnant, and nursing my 25 month old daughter. i know she isn't ready to wean yet, but oooooh boy does nursing ever hurt.

I try not to let her see my discomfort, because she's still gentle as ever; it isn't her fault, I don't want her to feel badly for nursing, but I'm about to tear my hair out. I know it's pregnancy related, as it's gotten more and more intense the further along I get.

I am truly distraught over this...any advice from the been there, done that mamas? Does the pain ease up in the next trimester? Will it be like this til birth?

I really, really do not want to wean her, but it's to the point of being unbearable. Help?

Excruciating how? Nipple pain or contractions? I never experienced nipple pain or breast pain while nursing during my pregnancy, but towards the end there (ds weaned at a little more than 7 months into my pregnancy w/ds2) I got some pretty darn serious contractions while nursing. I'm glad he weaned when he did as the contractions were a bit scarey so early.

I feel (well, have recently felt) your pain.

For me it DID get better. A LOT better. The want-to-crawl-out-of-my-skin really stunk. But it passed. I don't remember exactly when things got better, but for months now it's not been that bad. Mildly annoying, but no more curl your toes pain.

good luck!

It's breast pain. like fiery pain radiating out from the nipple. I guess a bad latch would be the closest pain I can relate it to. But SO much worse lol

Thank you! How did you keep from showing your discomfort to your nursling? I'm afraid that she'd be upset if she knew how much it hurts, kwim?

Did you feel it was related to supply issue? I had way oversupply in the first trimester, and now next to nothing. I'm hoping that something changes soon!

Well, my dd is older, so I could talk to her some about it not being comfortable for mama right now. Did some deep breaths etc.

I think the only real relation to supply was that the hormone changes happened at the same time. Though it was *better* once my colostrum was in.

good luck! I hope the worst passes quickly for you.
