I am pretty sure you're wrong. I just did research on circs. and in every single piece of literature that I came across it said that circumcision in Latin America is virtually unheard off unless done for specific religious or medical reasons. Demographically, it makes no sense either because Latinos for the most part are never circed in the US. So, I think you're just dealing with a bunch of weird people (sorry for the word).

Really?

The WHO data said that circumcision rates in Panama were under 20 percent. Odd.

All of their neighbors do not routinely practice circ, but then again, Panama has had a LOT of American influence because of the Canal.

that is really strange... we also have a HUGE Jewish community and we are certainly influenced by them. All my male relatives have been Circ'd, friends and people I know they are. My friends that have children are also Circ'd, everyone I know that have children Panama is a very small country, also, the ones that might not have that done could be the poor. No one can afford insurance, and companies don't offer it (if you work for them). I may think that is very common between the middle and upper class.

I am not so sure about that rate but I know there is a lot of poor in Panama...

forgot to add, we don't have medicaid or medicare either... our health system sucks! I hate to say it

Yeah, it is def. this particular community. Probably a few people there might be jewish, and maybe they influenced a few others with the "hygiene" nonsense. So, you are experiencing a fluke. It should be corrected nevertheless. I am pretty sure that for the most part nobody circumcises kids in Panama or anywhere else south of the Rio Grande. It's really just the US today in the Western Hemisphere.
