Seems like big drugstore brand of make-up is offering mineral make-up now. Has anyone tried it? Or do they have nasty additives that other formulations don't have?

I don't think any of the drug store brands are pure minerals without additives. I use and love www.everydayminerals.com. They are also a terrific bargain when you purchase their kits and they have free sample kit with which you only pay the shipping costs.
You can get advice from customer service or the women who post on the EM forum to help narrow down the products and colors that will work best for you. They also don't limit the number of sample kits you can order - just order one at a time though.
It has really helped clear up my skin. I used to only rarely wear makeup because my skin always broke out... but now with EM I can wear it everyday and my skin loves it. (Plus I can afford to since it's so affordable.) HTH.

Most of the mineral makeup I've looked at at the drug stores (Cover Girl and another one...can't think of name, right now) had parabens.
I bought some OrganicWear by Physician's Formula at CVS yesterday (On sale buy one, get one half) and I like it so far. 100% paraben free!

I will second everyday minerals as well. They have a sample kit that you can purchase for free, all you need is to pay shipping.

A third vote for Everyday Minerals. Actually, I had a rather bad customer service experience with them - just really terrible communication, and not the best at helping customers to choose colors via email, which is really the only way to do it since it's not sold in stores - but, all in all, the price just can't be beat, especially for the quality of the product. It's even better than Bare Minerals, which includes bismuth oxychloride (I think that's the name). It's considered a fairly inoccuous ingredient (a 1 at cosmeticssafety.org), but it's still just one less ingredient on your skin.
Also, totally go for their kit that is $32. I can't remember the name, but you get six FULL sized items, totally of your choosing. The other kits make you choose X number of foundation, X number of eye colors, etc. This way, you have no limitations - you could get 6 foundations if you wanted to. And it includes brushes, also. Their synthetic brushes are amazing...I'm not normally a fan of synthetics, but these are SO soft, and they don't shed.
