My surprise little girl was born via c-section after homebirth transfer on Apr. 28th at 2:12am. She weighed 11lbs. and was 22 inches long. My water broke in a flood on Saturday the 26th at a restaurant. When I made it to the restroom and noticed brown meconium with particulate matter I became alarmed and we made our way quickly home. I labor sporadically over the next 24 hours with baby sounding fine, but labor never picked up. I took both cohoshes and drank 4oz. of castor oil to augment labor. When baby started having some drops in heart tones and my water had been broke for 24 hours we transferred to the hospital. During transfer I went into active labor and labored at the hospital for 6 hours with no change in dilation (2-3cm) or effacement (70%). I started showing signs of transition labor (which happens to women in some instances with malpositioning before actual transition occurs). I went on like that for an hour and a half with no change in my cervix. When baby started having decels, we decided a c-section would be necessary. It was good that we did. She was very malpositioned being posterior with head flexed. There are bruises over her shoulders and pressure knots in her right arm where the cord wrapped around it several times.
Anyway, we are both very healthy and doing great. We are home. Nursing is wonderful. I'm so happy I got to naturally labor as long as I did. I think we benefited so much from that. Thanks mamas for all of your support over these 9 months.
