Help! Does this sound like a plugged duct?

Over the course of just this afternoon, I developed one really sore breast. I can't really tell if there is any particular hard spot that might suggest a plugged duct, b/c my breasts are kind of knotty anyway. I've never had anything like this! And anyway, I was wondering if that's likely what's going on... It seems like in the last day or so, ds has been nursing to let down and then not long after that at all. Like he's teasing the boob or something Could that cause it? It seems like letdown has felt like a more intense twinge as well. But I haven't really felt particularly engorged either. Anyone have any thoughts/advice? It really hurts TIA!

Is it red at all, or warm? I don't know if baby being a "boobtease" would cause a plugged duct... Do you have a pump? Maybe try emptying it after the next feeding and see if that helps.

It could be - I had a simlar thing happen to me. DS didn't like nursing out of the plugged duct side. See if you can't try treating it for being a plugged duct, pumping and applying alternating heat/cold, massage, nursing in a diff position, etc. & see if that helps!

Take extra vitamin C, too! It will help stave off mastitis.

perhaps massaging it gently would help unclog it. I have had simular things in times past. It was like the baby was sucking and it was like it was going to turn my breast inside out! Thankfully it did not last more than a day or so.

I'm so sorry I haven't gotten back to my own thread until now! Thanks for all your advice... Actually, about an hour after I posted the op, I developed a mild fever (99.1) which quickly rose to about 101, I felt *horrible* and I was freezing, feeling like I'd never be warm again. I nursed as much as possible and slept lots and lots, and was feeling better by midday the next day. I'm sure it was a plugged duct, because once the rest of my body cooled down, part of the right breast was def. red and warm. Again, lots of nursing and and some massage helped take care of it. That was horrible!

Anyway, thanks again for all the input. I was reading it, but wasn't feeling up to posting when I was sick. But I'm fine now
