6 minutes apart, for like 3 hours! Hurry it up, will ya? They are getting much more intense though. I can't wait to get into my tub. Why do babies wanna come in the middle of the night?

Babies come in the middle of the night because that's when birth hormones are highest. I saw a theory once that since humans are communal animals, middle of the night would have been when all the other women were in the village to help. During the day they would have been out doing chores, gathering food, caring for children, etc.

Good luck!

Whoo hoo!

Oh, and middle of the night is a great time -- you are more relaxed and peaceful than any other time of the day.

Awesome! In the words of Napolean Dynamite...LUCKY!!!!!!!

I read the same thing in nursing school about the babies coming in the middle of the night...I've also read that it's a combination of that and when the body is rested and relaxed (most of the time, and often only to a point, but whatever, huh? ) so it makes for a prime condition for labor to begin.

Oxytocin levels are highest at night. Most animals give birth at night when they are safest and in their nests/caves/etc.

Getting closer! ELVs for you!!

I've also read that some higher-than-statistically-expected-% of hospital births occur M-F, 8-5. Hmmm, wonder why that is?

It's been over 5 hours since MamaWolfe posted, so I hope she is holidng her LO right now!

OOh! I hope that little one made a safe entry into the world!

And my mom and I were just joking that all of my boys were born in the evening or nighttime hours.
