What is your child's favorite song or type of music?

Micah seems to like just about anything with a good beat, but his favorite (i.e. most soothing) is reggae music! I bought a Bob Marley (aka Mr. Bob ) CD when he was about 2 months old to help calm him when in his carseat. He would actually be screaming at the top of his lungs and as soon as the CD started he would stop

I would like to branch out (for my own sanity -- the CD is getting old) and was just wondering what your LO's favorite music/song/CD is.

My kids have listened to Carloff's music for children practically from birth but this is EXTREMELY hard to come by.

They LOVE greek music (my dh is Greek) so I'd say spanish/greek guitar music. Strunz and Farrah, Willie and Lobo.

They LOVE music from Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel.

Right now they're going thru a Thomas the train phase: and driving me NUTS w/it!

Don't laugh for those of you that are familiar with him..but Morrissey.
My DD wants to listen to the best of Morrissey cd 10,000 time a day and gets upset of I choose something else.
Before that it was a lot of Peter, Paul and Mommy or the Ramones. They love dancing to that.

Casimir, who's 26 mo., loves Reggae, Celtic, Bluegrass, and will dance his heart out to Canadian Indie...
He's into Dan Zanes, the Grateful Dead, Bob Marley...the soundtrack to Juno, Vampire Weekend....I could go on and on.

Check out the Putomayo kids cd's. We have the "Reggae Playground" and another kids' sampler and they are fabulous!

Reggae is a great one. But our toddler love love loves Jack Johnson. Her favorite is the In Between Dreams CD. She'd listen to it night and day if possible.

She also likes some classical (Mozart for Morning Coffee is a great one -- she isn't a fan of the big booming classical, but neither am I), and Carlos Nakai (Native American flute music -- great for winding down or napping). Enya, Clannad, and various massage type music are also good for background noise.

We play a lot of old music too, like Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, etc. And she likes Harry Belafonte. It's very fun!

And some Phish. A little Grateful Dead, though we typically play more David Grisman/Jerry Garcia (Not Just for Kids is great) or Old and in the Way.

And of course, she loves the Winnie the Pooh soundtrack, and Scale and Arpeggios from Aristocats.

My daughter loves Laurie Berkner and will sing her songs for days and days (and of course I know all the words too!) I think her favorite song is "I know a Chicken" or "We are the dinosaurs", both fine pieces of music!

My kids have always liked The Beatles and Paul McCartney. We bought Paul's new CD Memory Almsot Full when it came out, DS2 loves the song "Nod you head" he will sing along and nod his head at the same time and some greek music.

Anything by Elizabeth Mitchell! Also, he digs Lisa Loeb. I hear she has an album called "Camp Lisa" coming out this month....can't wait to get it!

DD's favorite song right now is Sufjan Stevens' "Chicago." Whenever she hears any Sufjan, she yells "CHICAGO!" and requests "big dance" to "big music." She also loves Sound Tribe Sector 9.

We also play a lot of Vivaldi, Mozart, Grateful Dead, and Bob Dylan. She likes it all. She hasn't heard any made-for-kids music, really (Other than Garcia/Grisman Not For Kids Only--I love that CD!)

Our son likes Prince, Lauryn Hill, old "roots" reggae, most folk.

I always get a secret pleasure at how much he likes Prince

My babe loves the Beatles, Gillian Welch, William Elliott Whitmore, opera, the Dead, and any of the songs for the Ipod commercials. hehe

Dd loves anything with a good drum beat - usually faster rock music. She will dance and twirl around until she gets dizzy! Right now, she loves anything by Weezer and Muse (dh plays Muse all the time).

She also likes to dance to light classical, which I find funny since it's so opposite of her usual favorite.

DD1 likes anything but Here in My Car is her fav to dance to and any Goodbye My Lover by James Blunt is what she goes to sleep with. When she's tired she asks for "Blunt".

DD loves anything with a hip hop beat...she immediately stops what she's doing and starts swaying her hips!
