Is there really no one in this forum living in the Wichita area??? Any Kansas moms (or dads) out there in the Wichita area???

I feel bad you have not gotten a reply. I was a long-time resident of Wichita until November when we moved to Omaha for medical reasons. There is a great AP group in Wichita where you might meet some like-minded people. Let me know if you want the info.

Hi I'm from Wichita, and dying to meet someone who thinks like me. All my friends, family, and co-workers think I'm a weird radical or something. I don't have children yet, ttc in about a year, but I am trying to live life organically, it's just hard to figure it out alone, (i grew up very not organic). Feel free to message me or anything!

Welcome Samantha,
Post when you get here and join our parenting group to meet others that are like-minded. I hope you have a easy move.
What part of town are you moving to?

Hello!

I am being laid off from my job in my current location, but may have the opportunity to take a position in the Wichita area. Can you ladies tell me a little about Wichita?

- What do you like?
- What do you hate?
- Are there areas of town I should stay away from? (I am a single mom, so I am definitely budget conscious. It seems like several apartment complexes are on the affordable side, but they don't seem to be super concentrated in one area. Where I currently live, usually the cheaper areas will attract trouble, but I can't really pinpoint where that would be in Wichita.)
- What are your favorite things to do in town?
- Is Wichita a friendly area?
- How often/much does it snow?

I am sure there is more. I am very nervous about moving.... So, help me either be more or less comfy.

Oh, and do any of you have a recommendation for an in-home daycare or sitter? I have been watching craigslist for possibilities, but thought I might could get a recommendation here.

If I do move, it will be sometime between the end of January and the end of March.

Thanks!
Rebekah

I got this in another thread http://www.mothering.com/discussions...=855913&page=5
They were listing good foreskin friendly pediatricians. There was only one listed in Kansas, and it was in Topeka. What about all the Wichita parents?

Let's list the pediatricians we use-the good (foreskin friendly, breastfeeding friendly, ok with non-vaxing, and other natural parenting aspects) and also the bad (basically ones that aren't ok with any of the above). I think it will benefit new parents, parents that are moving to the area, or just parents that are dissatisfied with the doc they have now)

I really love our Dr., Katie Mroz. She is wonderful. She was supportive of our UC. We do not vax and she has beautiful breastfeeding art in her offices. But you have to be a bit weary of the other Dr in her office, he is very pro vax and kind of an ass IMHO. But if you insist on seeing her you can avoid him all together. They are out west at 21st and Ridge.
Let me know if you want their number.

Anyone from Wichita give birth or know about the Yoder Birth Center, that looks like the place I'm going to use!

Also-do you Wichitan's know any good midwife/doulas?
I have only heard excellent things about the birthing center there! I live in Hutch.
Hi! I just found out I'm pregnant! My cousin (Who is 3 months pregnant) went to the Yoder Birth Center yesterday, and said she didn't like it. I haven't been myself though. She said it was too much like a hospital, and that they had a lot of rules. And they wouldn't let a waterbirth. Any advice?
Oh that stinks! I don't know of anyone around here that will do water births. Can you google something like midwives - Wichita Kansas. I had mine at Promise here in Hutch, it was crappy (c-section)...But the care was great afterwards. Let me know if you find anything.
