Have you spent more trying to breastfeed/pump than you would have if you just switched to formula? - Page 2

Oh yeah. I have so many hospital copays and doctor copays from my four rounds of mastitis. And breast pumps. And herbs, Domperidone, lactation consultants (before I found LLL), tea, lansinoh, breast pads I couldn't wear, bras I couldn't wear, Diflucan, you name it.

I very nearly flew to Toronto with my baby to see Dr. Newman too, but thankfully, I figured out what was going on before I did that.

Yep. Breast pump purchase that wasn't strong enough so now a $70 per month breast pump rental, Reglan, Dom, herbs out the wazoo, storage bags...and yes, formula.

Yep, and nope. I spent way more than I'd like to think about on special foods, special diets, etc. for months on end. BUt her formula would have cost an arm and a leg (IF WIC didn't cover it for us) so its not a cost we have to cover as of now....so yeah, BFing seemed really really expensive for a long while. BUt when we finally switched and did the g-tube, my continued pumping got me 5$ a day at the hospital cafeteria! It was the first time breastfeeding seemed to be a great beenfit with DD.

Yep. My pump is supposed to be $70/month, but they're giving me a 50% discount on a month-by-month basis, so that's good. But then I just had to buy new tubing and stuff, plus the extra gas I use coming home at lunchtime every day. Plus the money I spend on protein shakes and prepackaged snacks to eat while I drive (since nursing ds takes up my whole munch). THEN there's money for bottles since we use the playtex drop-ins, and in the beginning, breast pads. I was going through like a box a week at first. Now I just cross my arms when I leak

I get WIC and give away most of the milk and the cereal. If I used formula, it would be free.
