Are you supplementing? What are you taking?

Because of my traditional foods ways, I take these:

* acerola cherry powder (vitamin c)
* folic acid and b-complex because DD has spina bifida occulta and I'm paranoid about neural tube defects
* cod liver oil

I also more or less follow the WAPF guidelines for nursing mothers though I barely eat grains. I have a hard time with fish and seafood so that gets skipped quite a bit.

How about you, what are you taking? I'm interested in how the 'mainstream MDC' is different from 'mainstream'.

I take Usana multivitamins and minerals, Usana BiOmega (fish oil), Homefirst blackstrap iron (because I'm slightly anemic and still nursing). I also take Homefirst probiotics.

When the heartburn comes (later in pregnancy) I've found that taking papaya enzymes helps a lot!

I just read the WAPF guidelines you posted above and it's amazing. I was just looking for something like that. I wanted to add these kinds of things to my diet because my 3 year old has cavities. I read that a diet like that for him can help heal them, and a diet like that for me can decrease the odds of this little bean getting cavities. Cool!

I take only Solgar prenatals now that I'm pregnant. Before I found out, I was taking Fertility Blend with Vitex, red raspberry leaf, B6 and more folic acid. I'll probably resume red raspberry leaf after I talk with my midwife and get her okay.
I was taking flaxseed oil for Omegas, but I read somewhere that pregnant women shouldn't take flaxseed...? Anyone else hear about that? I should pick up some fish oils to replace them...

Nordic Naturals Omega complex and Rainbow Light prenatal vitamins.

Cod liver oil (Nordic Naturals)
Prenatals (Kirkman's hypoallergenic)
Probiotics, when I remember (Kirkman's hypoallergenic).

My son has severe food allergies and I am on a restricted diet to nurse him, so I take these things all the time. Nothing new for pregnancy at this point.

I drank red raspberry leaf tea every day in my last trimester with DD and I feel like it helped make my labor easier. Actually, my MW wanted me to have it in labor too, but I was soo sick to my stomach that I didn't eat or drink anything until transition. They made me drink water with honey then (and it was good for me!)

I'm not a big fan of flax oil. I feel like it goes rancid way faster than it even says on the box. I do make the occasional flax seed muffin for the fiber, but I don't go overboard because of the naturally occurring plant estrogens. I've been very happy with cod liver oil.

My 3rd has 16 food allergies. She was given a formula in the nursery because "she wasn't peeing enough" and I "wasn't making enough milk" (hello - milk doesn't come in before you leave the hospital!). she was being worked up for some heart issues so I was more focused on that than being a stickler about formula. With my 4th, I had notes plastered about her bassinet, talked specifically with the nursery nurses, and was very vocal with her doctor (and kept her in my room as much as possible) about her not getting any formula and why. She never got any during her time there. I do think she has had some formula because she has been known to take a sip of C's formula when she mistakes it for her bottle. She does not have any food allergies that we know of.

I take a prenantal vitamin and my Synthroid for my low thyroid. When I think of it, I do take some probiotics and some fish oil.

I take a children's chewable (for 2 & 3 year olds) and a folic acid. Prenatals have too much iron for my very slow pregnant digestive system!

I'm taking:
Nature's Way Neuromins DHA 200 mg once a day
Nature's Way Reutri primadopholis once a day
Rainbow Light Just Once Prenatal One Vegan Multivitamin twice a day

and I have Floradix Iron + Herbs, when I feel I need it.

(When I was pregnant with my 2nd while nursing my 1st...I took twice as many prenatals. So...that is what I'm doing now...since my ds is still nursing.)

I will also be buying liquid calcium by NF from www.birthwithlove.com within the next few months.

Oh, yes....I'm also drinking raspberry leaf tea one cup a day during the 1st trimester and plan to drink 2 cups a day 2nd trimester, 3 cups a day 3rd trimester.

Any and all prenatals give me migraines...even whole food ones, but I am trying to take less than the recommendation and see if that works.

So, I'm taking...
New Chapter prenatals (1 instead of 3 a day)
Pro-Omega fish oil (Nordic Naturals)
Floradix

Those of you doing Rainbow Light prenatals, I just got the June sale catalog for Frontier and they are on sale...15% off. So, the 180 ct. is only $15.71 and the 360 ct. is 27.18.
