liquid maca?

Hey everyone,
I have been lurking on this thread. I started taking maca about 2.5 weeks ago (the capsules) as well as vitex.....and i got my period!! yay after the 57day cycle i had!
anyway, i ran out of the small bottle i bought, and when i went to the store again they had liquid form too. The lady there said thats what she takes...in a cup of warm water.
Just wondered if you know about the liquid...is it not as good as the powder? what about in comparison to the capsules?

Thanks

Hi, I have also been lurking on this thread. I bought the liquid form of maca yesterday, and the herbalist at my healthfood store told me that the liquid form will penetrate faster into your bloodstream than the pill form. As far as the liquid being better than the powder form I don't know. She also told me to prepare it the same way. I just don't know when to start it, since I'm in the middle of my cycle right now.

Anyway hope this helps, and lots of : and for everyone

I should get the saliva testing results by Monday at the latest. I am hoping my naturopath/acupunturist will call me with them before hand but we have an appointment on Monday if not.
She did not recommend the Maca, I started taking it on my own and yes, I also feel like I am playing with fire with all these vitamins and supplements. However, I have seen some improvements in EWCM so I think some of it is working.
I stopped going to the RE, she was way too interventionist for me. She wanted me to move on to injectibles plus IUI right away and I wanted to see if the acupunture and herbs would work after a few months. I got PG that very cycle but it seems to be taking my body some time to straighten itself out from the m/c.
How long have you been TTC now? How old are you?
Headaches are often hormone related.
Sorry for the third degree, I am just very interested in all this stuff!
veganmama719 - I'll try to make a long story short... I'm 31 and we have been trying now for 2 yrs this coming Aug. actually. Never gotten a BFP yet and I have tried it all, natural that is, (HSG, Post-coital, SA, US, chiropractics, acupuncture, herbs, vitamins, preseed, not trying, diet by eliminating all wheat, sugar, and dairy as per acupuncturist, FAM, OPKs, BBT's and I'm sure I'm forgetting some of the other things we have tried as well). Just started using the CBEFM this past week so I'm hoping that is my ticket to a BFP. Had been diagnosised with PCOS when I was maybe 21 and then 2-3 yrs later was told I didn't have it by another dr after doing the same test as the first Dr so who knows. Only symptom i have of it is inc. hair growth and short periods so who knows what is up with that. I think it is all hormone related but I wish a medical dr. would be able to tell me that. That is why I made the executive decision that I would throw Meca into my mix b/c it seemed like it couldn't hurt and I'm hoping this cycle is just cleaning house and getting all the crap out in order to make room for a little one. This cycle with the meca is definitely odd though, been bleeding even less and more fiber-ish (like the lining is flaking off and more brown TMI sorry). So who knows. I just hope that the 2nd RE I see the first week in June will be able to figure something out and will finally test things like my progesterone levels which have never been checked and maybe my thyroid antibodies and whatever else is important. Okay I'll shut up now. Sorry to go on and on. I just hope that the meca will straighten everything out for everyone and then we can call it the "miracle vegetable root"!!!!!!!! to all!!!!!!!

maca use

I have been taking maca for 7 months now for endometriosis and heavy cycles. The Maca is a blessing for me. My cycles are a little longer but af is only 3 days instead of 10. I also know the exact day of O, I get the ovulation pain now that I have been taking it. Remember when starting Maca to slowly introduce your body to it. Week one I took 250mg and by week two was taking 500mg. Now I currently take it in powder form and I am taking 2T daily. Also you need to make sure you are getting your daily intake of water.
I found this site on maca that might help some of you. http://www.wondrousherbs.com/MacaFAQ.html
I use Navitas brand powder and purchased it from Amazon and you can purchase the Navitas brand capsules from iHerb for $17 for 200 capsules and they are 500mg. Oh and I have read that the Raw is best because it has all the good stuff in it and gelatinized takes some of the stuff out of it.
I also take a break from it every 3 months.

Hahaha...Please add me LibraryMo, I can't take lurking anymore and I saw all the BFPs here (Congratulations btw), and all the benefits that maca can do.

Thanks Fertilitymom for explaining in detail how it's done. I don't think this is our month, I mean my chart doesn't look that great to me. But I'm learning, this is my first time charting. Now I'm a couple days past o and keeping :

I heard that you should take about 3000 mg a day to be equal to the peruvian diet. It seems like 250mg would be NO where close to that. Also, I was told the human body can better absorb organic gelatinized capsules then the raw stuff.

Congrats, Katiedidbug!

Lauren31, though I don't know anything about which form of maca is best, I agree about the amount. It seems like 250mg might not have much of an effect. For some of us here, time is of the essence!

I started off with 1000 mg twice daily and had no issues. I was taking tablets and now I am taking capsule form from Solaray. They are 525 mg 2 in the am and 2 in the pm So 2100 mg total. I think it is helping my cycle I might up my dose next cycle if I don't get a bfp this time around.

When will the increased libido kick in? I've been taking the maca powder for a couple weeks now - between 1 & 2T a day - and I should be O'ing now or very soon, and I'm no more interested in BDing than I ever was, and in fact, I really have no interest at all right now [and during my fertile time is when I usually am at least a bit interested].

hi mama rana! i would suggest taking a higher dose (maybe 3-5 tbsp of powdered maca a day) for about a week and see if that does the trick. also, other things could be the cause of low libido such as diet, stress, and amount of exercise, etc. i know when i started meditating and doing kundalini yoga i saw great improvement in my libido. now with maca- it's even greater. i feel the difference the same day i take it. maybe a few hours later.... and i'm most amorous. then i connect the dots! it was the maca. maybe it's just my imagination... but my husband loves what i think it does. he takes it too and has noticed an increased sex drive as well.

It took me about three weeks to notice a difference.

Could I be added to the list please? Thanks!

Thanks to the helpful replies here and going back through all the posts, I decided to try the maca. I'm 21 months pp and waiting for af. We'd like to catch the first egg if possible. I've had some surges but have not actually ovulated yet. Maybe the maca will help? I'm also liking that it helps libido and fertile cm--I need help in both departments.

So I ordered capsules from amazon, got one-day shipping thanks to a deal my dh signed up for and they arrived this afternoon! I popped 4 pills right away--2000mg. Now I'm a little worried I should have ramped up

Both dh and I have had good fertility in the past, I'm hoping that hasn't changed. Should dh take maca as well I wonder? His libido has seemed to go down in the past year (He's 36, I'm 35)--is that normal for men his age??

Thanks for reading, and I hope we all get bfp's soon!!
