May TTC w/ Maca - Page 12

I've been taking it over a month (not quite as long as the front page suggests cuz I am a wuss who couldn't get it down) but I've yet to see any changes at all. Still non-existint CM, still not ovulating...but I'm trying to keep with it.

Well, I took maca (2T) for days 3-9 of my cycle, but couldn't stand it. I felt exhausted, tired, awful, and I would wake up nauseated just thinking of that morning shake. So I stopped. Then on day 12 I had one more T. Temps shot up the next day like I had ovulated (day 18 is more normal for me). I stopped the maca. Temps stayed up for 3 days, FF gave me crosshairs, then it all went away. I got really stressed for personal reasons, and my real ovulation was delayed. Looks like it might have been day 22. Can't say for sure yet.

But anyway, I wanted to add that I found a way to tolerate the maca!
My friend and I were reading online and decided that 2T is too much and that maybe explains why our bodies rejected it. Since mine is gelatinized it is stronger, so I decided on one heaping half-teaspoon (which is like 1 regular teaspoon of the raw stuff). My friend also read that it's usually cooked.

So, anyway, we tried the simplest thing: tea! I literally put a heaping half teaspoon of maca in a teacup and added maybe half a cup of boiling water and let it sit like tea. I added nothing else. And it wasn't bad! And this is from somone who couldn't stand the taste before and had major trouble getting it down. I just sipped the tea and it tasted pretty much ok. I did have to keep swishing it around in the cup so it didn't settle to the bottom, but it was fine. I drank it like normal tea and finished it all and have no need to chase it with anything, no bad taste in my mouth at all. It's weird how not disgusting it was/is. Just thought I'd share in case someone else needs a better method to get the stuff down.

I'm maybe 2 dpo now, but I feel ok taking a small amount. I'll listen to my body and stop if I think I need to. But I want to see how this dosage goes.

Also, I just wanted to note that on the front of this thread it says that 3000 mg is about 1 tablespoon. According to the label on my maca, it is one teaspoon. Big difference, as there are 3 teaspoons in a tablespoon. Mine is gelatinized, so I suppose it could be denser, but by a factor of 3? So check your labels.

Any of you that are taking the capsule form of maca find that as time goes by the powder in the capsule seems to get hard and no longer a powder?? i have noticed that with my last two bottles. Not sure if i should still take it or if this means it has gone bad or something. Anyone????????? TIA Also, this might have been covered before, but can you take Maca and clomid together???

I just caught up with reading this thread and am interested in the posts about amount. I have been taking 2T daily and have also been feeling really tired. I didn't link it to Maca. Interesting. On the other hand my cycle looks really good this month so I think I'll wait to make changes until next cycle. Something to keep in mind.

hmmm... I have been reading this thread and have a few questions.

I have recently stopped taking the depo shot and and ttc #1. I have not had a real AF yet. (last shot should have been may 15). I spot when ever attempting to BD or if I even have a dream that my husband is in. Weird. Is it correct that Maca regulates you? Anyone else go through this?

I am hoping it does... that is why I am taking it, but I have yet to see the difference.

I posted this question before, but never got a response so I thought I'd try once again to see if anyone knows the answer. This might have been covered before, but can you take Maca and clomid together??? TIA!!!

I honestly don't know the answer to your question, but I don't see why not. The maca regulates hormones, balances them, it doesn't increase or decrease a specific one. I would suggest looking through some of the older maca threads, and seeing if you can find the non-MDC thread about Maca that maybe you could search for "maca+clomid".

Also, wanted to add taht I got a BFP on Wed. Not sure if it was the maca or one of the other supplements DH and I were on, or the acupuncture, or ??? Who knows. Just hoping the LO sticks.

Anyone take the maca tincture? I got something called Pharma Maca from my local health food store. They had the powder and capsules too, but I usually get tinctures if I can, since I find that they work faster. Anyway, I just started and am taking three full droppers per day. I have no idea how much that really adds up to though, and am wondering if I am taking enough of it :

I've stopped taking the maca. I started in March I think, and had a really difficult time getting the stuff down. It wasn't so bad, but I don't think it jived with my system, so I didn't re-order when I finished up the stuff in June. This is my second cycle without it, and I'm really glad I'm not taking it - it' didn't give me the bost that 'everyone' else was talking about.

Good luck to the rest of you!

Olerica have you noticed any change to your cycle since you stopped? I am considering not taking it this month. I'm on CD3 and can't decide if I should give it another month or not. The first month I had a crazy long cycle but a good 13 day LP this last cycle was 26 days but only an 11 day LP. I don't feel any type of "boost" from it either.

two cycle ago I had a 24 day cycle 10dpo last month I had 26 day cycle with an 11dpo
I did the soy isoflavs this cycle on day 3 & 4 I took 80mgs then days 5, 6, 7 120mgs It looks like I O'd today on cd9 the cycles above I O'd on cd14 and cd15
I really don't know what to think of Oing so early. I am hoping it means good things and I will have an even longer LP or better yet get pregnant, although I only got in two BDing times before O. LOL I thought I had more time.

Kristin, I hadden't really looked, but did because you asked. My FP was a day or two shorter and my LP was a day or two longer, but no real difference in my temps or anything like that. I'm at a 10-12 day LP, so I'm ok with that.
