Well, I took maca (2T) for days 3-9 of my cycle, but couldn't stand it. I felt exhausted, tired, awful, and I would wake up nauseated just thinking of that morning shake. So I stopped. Then on day 12 I had one more T. Temps shot up the next day like I had ovulated (day 18 is more normal for me). I stopped the maca. Temps stayed up for 3 days, FF gave me crosshairs, then it all went away. I got really stressed for personal reasons, and my real ovulation was delayed. Looks like it might have been day 22. Can't say for sure yet.
But anyway, I wanted to add that I found a way to tolerate the maca!
My friend and I were reading online and decided that 2T is too much and that maybe explains why our bodies rejected it. Since mine is gelatinized it is stronger, so I decided on one heaping half-teaspoon (which is like 1 regular teaspoon of the raw stuff). My friend also read that it's usually cooked.
So, anyway, we tried the simplest thing: tea! I literally put a heaping half teaspoon of maca in a teacup and added maybe half a cup of boiling water and let it sit like tea. I added nothing else. And it wasn't bad! And this is from somone who couldn't stand the taste before and had major trouble getting it down. I just sipped the tea and it tasted pretty much ok. I did have to keep swishing it around in the cup so it didn't settle to the bottom, but it was fine. I drank it like normal tea and finished it all and have no need to chase it with anything, no bad taste in my mouth at all. It's weird how not disgusting it was/is. Just thought I'd share in case someone else needs a better method to get the stuff down.
I'm maybe 2 dpo now, but I feel ok taking a small amount. I'll listen to my body and stop if I think I need to. But I want to see how this dosage goes.
