CD 18 here, no O yet; although, I did have ewcm today and yesterday, so maybe it's on its way. I hope so anyway. I hate having delayed ovulation. ARgghhh...And I think the maca may be messing w/ my temps. They're a lot higher this month. I mean, FF has already given me crosshairs because they're so much higher. FF is also on crack, but that's a different story.

I have some questions:
1. Will it have any affect on my temps?? I have been charting for a few months and wonder if it will raise/lower my temps, making ovulation harder to detect
2. Will it increase my fertility- as in increase my odds of having multiples?? Like ovulated 2x's in a month??

I have extemely low sex drive and will be starting TTC'ing next cycle. I am also 37, so I figure it can't hurt. But I don't want to increase my odds of twins.

I don't think it increases your chances for twins. I also have questions about temps. Mine are noticeably higher this mo. I had a very low sex drive and after being on Maca for a cycle, I noticed an increase in libido.

lasergirl - I dont know the effects on temp as I've only been taking for a few days, but as far as effects on fertility, it is supposed to have an effect on how your body regulates its own hormones, meaning it directly isnt going to cause an increase in a particular type of hormone but to regulate you better whereever you should be in your cycle. Therefore, it can increase fertility by regulating your entire cycle better but an increase in fertility doenst mean you're more likely to conceive twins

I have a decent recipe for the MACA powder and tried it yesterday. Still taking a bit to get used to the gritty texture.
1 cup of whole milk (full fat dairy is supposed to be helpful for fertility too), 1 cup water, 1 cup ice, cocoa to taste (1-2 tbsp), 1-2 tbsp MACA, 1 tbsp honey to sweeten. Mix in blender.

It basically tastes like a malted chocolate milk. I'm going to try frozen yogurt this week to see if a thicker medium helps take away the gritty texture.

I just tried a new "recipe" for the maca that wasn't bad.

raspberries--I used frozen, ~3/4 C
4T chocolate hemp smoothie mix
2T maca root powder
milk to fill the glass (use a Bullet blender)

I could just barely taste the maca root. My hemp smoothie mix is a little old, so that wasn't the best, but I think this is the answer I've been searching for.

I have a dosing clarification question.
I've heard doses mention of 1 to 2 T or 3000 to 5000 mg. The bag of maca powder I bought says a "serving" is 5g. I've been using 1 or 2T--depending on what I could stomach--and the morning I decided to weigh that to see how much I was getting. I was surprised to find out that 1T=10g!!! Does that sound right? I can much more easily hide 1T in smoothies and things than 2T.

momma rana - I never do 2 tbsp all at once unless im making a smoothie for DH too. I've been doing just 1 tbsp as a single serving, but doing it twice/day. Or I guess you could do 1/2 tbsp for now 2x/day until you get used to it then increase. I might try that actually. I think you can still have good effects from 1tbsp/day.

Ok, so my temps stayed high today and they normally start declining as of 12 dpo and FF said I may have possible triphasic temps as of cd 25. I did test yesterday and today and I think I have a very faint ++!! :

Alright I am now on cd3 I messed up my chart and it turns out I O'd on cd11 not 16 so I started in the normal time frame with a 12 day LP.
My period is much richer this cycle, I attribute that to the maca as it has been scant for too many cycles to count.

Hello! I'm going to subscribe to this thread. I've been taking Maca for about 6 months now and we're hoping to ttc in about two months. We're moving currently and getting a new job first. sigh. However, I've started charting again and am extremely pleased. When we were trying to concieve ds I didn't even ovulate on my own ever. Now I am ovulating and everything and plenty of ewcm! I'm really hoping it will be easier to concieve this time around with the maca. Last time I had to take vitex to help out.

I'm pretty hard core, I guess. I just mix my maca powder with a small amount of water and kind of "shot-glass" it back. Nose plugged and with another glass of water and raisins at the ready to stuff in my mouth. I've given up trying to make it taste good.

The raspberries and chocolate hemp powder really do a good job of disguising 1T. I just hope that's enough, cuz 2 of those shakes a day might be a little caloric.....

I'm taking capsules now because I just couldn't handle the taste of the powder no matter what I put it in.

I'm working on managing my PCOS right now... on Metformin and just trying to ovulate. I'm hoping the combination of all the things I'm doing will make something happen finally...

I just ran out of my capsules and may revert to taking the powdered stuff, but I've actually taken the last 3 days off because even the thought of it is enough for me. Besides, I'm only on CD5 so I'm not too anxious. And speaking of anxiety...as of today our house is under contract so I'm really hoping these buyers work out and on June 20th we can close, get in our cars and drive to Virginia.

jrose_lee I'm so impressed with your maca/water hardcoreness . I was thinking of trying that today as I drank my maca shake b/c sometimes I just don't want to drink an entire huge shake. But the thought of just maca and water made me gag a little so I think I'll stick with my shake for now.

I'm 10 DPO right now, but don't think there's much hope for a bfp so I prob wont test unless I make it to 16 DPO or something.
