Are you having a CS and if so when? I just want to keep an eye on you and your new little one.

Hi. Aww..that's so nice thanks!

We consulted with the Neurosurgeon and he said he couldn't find a reason why a vaginal birth would harm the baby in anyway so I'm planning a VBAC! It was a very long and hard decision for us, but we're comfortable with it. If he gave us ANY indication/hesitation that it would harm that babe in any way I would just go with a c-section no questions asked, but he felt it would be fine. My OB is agreeable as well but won't let me go past my due date (the 30th) so I have a c-section scheduled for May 28th. They don't schedule c-sections on Thurs or Fri and my due date is on a Fri : that's why it's a couple of days earlier. I'm hoping I can talk him into a few more days but we'll see.

I would love to have a VBAC but I'm also ok with another c-section if it comes to that. Despite being cautious about the VBAC they are going to be cautious because of the tumor so we'll have to see what happens. I just want him to get here as safely/healthy as he can and for me to be as healthy as I can be so I can take care of him. However that transpires is good with me.

Either way he'll be here by the 28th! A friend of ours who works for Lifesource asked us if we'd like to have a blood drive for Sprout and his surgery. We're having that on June 4th. It's going to be a busy week!

Thanks

Will they need to do surgery on sprout as soon as you deliver?

We won't know until he's born and they can exam him/do more tests. They can only tell so much from an ultrasound or even an MRI while I'm still pregnant.

We're having another consult with the Neuro next week to get as much of a game plan in place as we can. Ideally he'd like to wait a couple of months to do surgery so the baby can get bigger. These are his words "the surgery is very bloody due to all the vessels" and the biggest risk of surgery is losing the baby to blood loss. Hence the blood drive because he will need transfusions. Even if we wait a couple of months he told us they would still probably block some of the blood flow to the brain using radiation (isn't that amazing?!?!) to help control it.

Since things have looked positive (meaning nothing is being moved out of place because of the tumor) with the u/s they are leaning toward waiting, but like I said we won't know that until he's here. He told us they will not biopsy the tumor until it's removed either. While they believe it's benign we won't know that for sure for awhile yet either.

It's going to be a lot of wait and see.

Thanks for your concern, it means a lot!

So many s for you!!! I am so pleased that, given the circumstances, everything sounds as positive as it does .

I have to say, why do 2 days make a difference? I mean, you are due on a Friday, so would the following Monday really make a difference? That is within the range of gestational age, esp. since most people don't ovulate on day 14 like the pregnancy wheels assume. KWIM? (not giving you a hard time, just wondering.)

All opinions are welcome and I don't think you'r giving me a hard time at all! I appreciate questions, they give me another angle to think about.

No, 2 more days really wouldn't make a difference in that regard esp since I believe my due date is more like the 24th than the 30th, since I had to guess at my LMP. I do know the conception date though, so that's how I got the 24th.

As silly as it sounds, I think those couple of 'extra' days make a difference to me mentally though. I really don't think I'm going to push him, it was more of a thought depending on what is happening when we get there.

No, I meant, why should the OB care about 2 more days? That is 2 more relaxing weekend days for you to go into labor. I seriously doubt your uterus is going to explode in those 2 days. Maybe just not show up?
