Getting fleas out of upholstery?

Thread Starter
It appears that my husband got some flea bites from sitting in a truck with a dog on Saturday. Someday we'll laugh about this, right? He itched for a day, then today rode in his car again and got more bites. So apparently they are in his car. Any safe, natural ways to repel the fleas? We will vacuum it out, too. Thanks, mamas!

Cedarwood EO. Dilute in water and spray. Leave the doors open and watch the critters leave!

The first time I used cedarwood was on a litter of young puppies, I couldn´t believe my eyes as within seconds the fleas were appearing from the furry depths and leaping overboard (luckily I did the spraying outside!)

Fleas also really don't like eucalyptus EO!

They HATE orange oil and lavendar, too. Don't use orange around cats. period.

Also, you can get a bag of dia-to-maceou(sp?) earth... it's called DE, you can get it at Lowes and anyplace with an organic pest-control section. It is ground-up fossilized something or other. It kills all hardbodied insects that come into contact with it... by ripping holes in the exoskeleton. It will not hurt anything soft-bodied or human as long as you don't inhale it. You just sprinkle it on, leave it for as long as you can and vaccuum it up (leave some inside cracks). It is the only thing that kept the fleas from eating us alive last summer
