What do you use for dusting?

I grew up using Pledge & a paper towel and have been searching for a magic solution in the years since I gave up that method.

I've been using microfiber cloths, terry wash cloths, or mateless socks (all dry) with the same results. Everything I use seems to just push the dust to the edge of whatever I'm dusting and then it's pretty tricky to actually get it off whatever I'm dusting. Are my materials the problem or is it my technique? Do I need to use some kind of dusting solution/liquid to help get the dust off?

I use an old diaper, dampened just with some water.

The wood furniture in our house is all natural cherry, so we use lemon oil to moisturize the wood and I use old T-shirts to buff the finish. I only put the oil in the wood when it needs to be moisturized. Otherwise, I just use a very, very, very slightly dampened old t-shirt to remove the surface dust.

Hmmm, okay. Sounds like my problem is using the rags dry. I'll try dampening them and see if that helps.

Damp microfiber cloth.

I use a feather duster. I don't think it kicks up that much dust. I love how it can go around delicate things on the mantle.

You just got to remember to take a feather duster outside some time and beat it against the wall a couple times or twist it between your hands.

What I use is kind of like a swiffer duster but it is made out of cotton. You can throw it in the wash, and seems to pick up the dust well.
If I want to do heavy duty dusting I use an old warn out cloth diaper with lemon oil

ditto! I use lemon oil every so often on the wood that needs it but a damp diaper does the trick for dusting!

I use the dusting attachment on my vacuum cleaner for most of the large items and toys.... then I use just a damp cloth for the rest.

I use my cleaning lady.
She uses a damp cloth most of the time, lemon oil once a month.

I use damp microfiber cloths. It works well. I am a cleaning lady so at work they insist on some sort of cleaner.

God/sess bless you!! I am a freaking slob and a WAHM...if it weren't for my fantabuluous cleaning crew, I would go insane! In case you ever feel under appreciated, know that you are not (at least not in my world). You are appreciated more than you will ever know!

I have a wool duster. I'm not sure exactly what it's called. Works pretty well though.
