Crochet Question: 20 Loops?

My pattern says: 1 sc in 4th ch from hook. *ch 2
miss next ch. 1 sc in next ch. rep from * to end of ch. Turn. 20 loops.

What in the world does 20 loops mean? The directions go on to tell me to sc in certain loops. The only reference I can find for a loop stitch is to actually make a loop, as in making a rug or something. I'm making dishcloths.

Can someone explain or direct me to a site that shows how to do a loop?

Ok, bear with me here, I've never given internet crochet advice before. When you sc, ch2, skip a ch and sc again it will creat a "loop" (or empty space) over the ch that you skipped. When you turn, you will crochet in those empty spaces (or around the ch2).

This sounds exactly like the dishcloth pattern I love so much. After you finish the row of sc, ch 2 and turn all of the "ch 2" spaces are "loops" into which you will work the sc's into for the rest of the pattern. If you need a visual I can take a picture of one of my dishcloths and post it for you!

When it says 20 loops at the end of direction it is letting know how many loops or stitches you should have after your turn and start on the next row.
