Resource/opinions on natural rubber pillows?

Thread Starter
We currently have down pillows that I am looking to replace. We have had them for years and they seem to be breaking down.

I am considering replacing them with the natural, shredded rubber type of pillow.

Does anyone have an opinion to offer? Also, where to buy? I found a version at a local store for about $75 for a standard size.

I'm not sure about rubber pillows, but my husband has a buckwheat pillow which we love, and they're certainly less than $75: http://www.beans72.com/

No way I'd consider them. Allergy issue.

Why increase exposure to something that is becoming a wellknown, if not quite common, allergen?

Actually natural rubber is not a common allergen, and shredded rubber pillows are great for allergy sufferers. The one I have can be machine washed. I got mine here
I really like that I can wash them. I have wool pillows too, which I really like, but they cant be washed, so I air them in the sun.

Natural rubber pillows are great for people with allergies because they can be washed regularly. Down and cotton can have lots of dust mites, cotton and wool dont wash well. it is hard to find a down replacement, but I find the shredded rubber to be great. I can squish the rubber around for cervical support. Most rubber allergies come from contact directly with the rubber, and from proteins and chemicals leftover from poor or synthetic processing. Many brands are natural and free of allergens. Allergies to natural rubber are quite rare.
