I Just Paid Off My Car!

Woo hoo! I'm so happy! I drive a Toyota Matrix with less than 50k on it, and I just paid it off after 60 months.

Now the plan is to drive it another 5 years (or until DD is done with daycare stuff), sock away half of my current payment amount into savings, and use the rest against my daycare cost shortfall that occurs in the gap between my FSA amount and the actual cost--about $1200/year.

Ahhh...that's going to make life a lot easier.

That's awesome! Congrats!

I'm really looking forward to paying ours off. Our last payment will be mailed in December! It will definitely free up a good chunk of change monthly. Ours will either go in savings or into our debt snowball to be off the credit cards.

Yay for you!!!!

That is so great! One thing I would make sure of is that they say that on your credit report, when I was doing a refi on our house a couple years ago, the broker kept asking if I wanted to use money to pay off my car, and I was like WTF??? My car IS paid off. Citi had just kept my loan saying I OWED 5,000 and it had been paid off for over a year. I called and got the RUDEST guy ever and finally had to talk to someone else and get it fixed and they did. Just a heads up.
