"Maxed Out" movie

I saw this on Netflix, and am confused by it. I didn't really get the point at all, other than the credit card companies making fortunes off middle & lower class people, and the government doing nothing about it & even siding with the CC companies. To me, it seems like no matter what, you're screwed.

I worry about our financial situation on a daily basis. Each month I wonder if we will make it through OK. We have so far, but I don't think that will last with the way things are now with the economy .

I agree, I saw it too and was left kind of feeling like "what???". I guess I expected it to make a big impact on me like "Sicko" or "An Inconvenient Truth", but the filmmakers didn't quite take it as far as they could have. It was more depressing than anything, those poor mama's with the college age kids who killed themselves over their debts. :-(

I watched it too and I think the point is to stay the hell away from the credit card companies.

mommyofmany, I used to worry about our finances all the time until dh and I started doing "The Total Money Makeover" ala Dave Ramsey. You could check it out. www.daveramsey.com

I know, that was so sad for those moms . It mainly stated what the problem was, but no way to fix it. And yeah, it depressed me more than I am now too; like we'll never get ahead, we'll be in debt til we die.

Yeah, credit cards are pure evil.

I just read another thread about Dave Ramsey, and am looking into his program . Thanks!
