went to my midwife appt today.i am anemic. my iron points points were at 9. she says i need to take iron pills or i could need a blood transfusion when i give birth. i already have severe bowel issues. i got bullied into taking that damn strep test. even though i told her i would refuse iv treatment and tests on my baby. she said the ped would insist on testing my baby if i refuse to take the damn test. i am so tired and upset.i have no fight left in me.

Don't give up! Take your Floradix and get your strength back. I'm anemic, too.

Ohhh, you don't have to take those horrible pills. Get some floradix & up your iron rich foods (maybe a steak, leafy greens). I know at my local HFS they have these protein rich shakes with extra iron in them, and they are actually really good too. High in the leafy greens

Eew, I didn't even see the part about the pills. Don't take them! Honestly, they were worse for me than the anemia. Get Floradix (it's a bit expensive, but SO worth it) and check out your iron-rich foods.

Also, make sure you're starting off with an iron-rich breakfast. I've been eating Total cereal (with a banana for potassium!) recently, and it's really helped.
And just don't waste your $ on the pills! Yuck, eww.

I'm sorry you're being pushed into doing things you're uncomfortable with.
I agree with the pp's, take your floridax, eat some spinach and red meat and try to go that route. Also, I turned down the GBS test and understand that if for some reason we have to be transferred (from home), the hospital pediatrician's will want to test baby for it, but I can decline. I'm just making sure *I* know the warning signs of a baby with GBS and if I see those, than I"ll ask for my baby to be treated. But it's like less than .05% of babies who are actually born with GBS that need treated. HTH

I am really low on iron as well, and have a history of anemia, its been so bad in the past that i have had to have injections. Seriously dont do the pills, they really mess with your body, make you constipated, and cause long term problems with iron absorbsion. Get some floradix, i have felt so much better since having it, i didnt even realise i felt bad
i have it in a big glass of oj morning and night. Also if you can get some nettle and alfalfa, and make tea from it, alfalfa also has vit k in in it, this tea is seriously like a vit tonic, especially if you mix it with rrl and oatstraw. Also cut back on caffeien, dont have it at the same time as your iron sups.

I agree with Floradix! Mine was 9.5 yesterday (babies are just sucking me dry for their stores) and so I've upped mine to 15ml twice a day. I already feel better today!
