How does "breathable" PUL work? How can it be both breathable AND contain everything? Or does it not? Has anyone worked with it/used it before? Thanks http://www.sewdiapers.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

I don't know how the breathable thing works. Its probably complicated science!
There is a fabric available in the UK called Napwrap. It's a sort of PUL but its a bit lighter, more drapey and has a bit of stretch to it. It's also breathable. Here is a link to it: http://www.pennineoutdoor.co.uk/Penn...rics.asp?sid=1 (its the second fabric from the top) I've used it for making wraps before, and it's never leaked or left clothing damp. I think one of the major nappy manufacturers here uses it for their wraps too.
Also from the website is some info on other fabrics. It's talking about rainwear mostly:
I'd imagine the breathable PUL would work something like that?

| MVT - What does it mean? The perfect waterproof breathable fabric is impervious to wind, rain, sleet and snow yet allows condensation and water vapour out. This moisture vapour transmission "MVT" is measured in gms/m2/24hours. The higher the MVT, the more effective and comfortable the fabric. Microporous coatings have holes small enough to allow moisture vapour out but do not allow rain in. The newest hydrophillic polymer coatings are 50 times more effective in MVT than conventional PU coatings and also have good strength, durability and softness to handle. |

I've made a few pocket diapers with breathable PUL. I'd only made a two before that, with 1 mil PUL, and they were about the same to work with in terms of sewing. I think that the fabric attached to the breathable stuff does dry a tiny bit faster.
I think it just works by having really tiny pores.
