Yups.
My LO does the arms flailing startle thingy where his eyes get all big and he looks like if he could talk he'd say "what the hell was that!"

And yeah, his pidoops take alot of energy.
He gets all crosseyed and red and squnches up his shoulders so you can see his double chin . He looks like he's concentrating very hard, it's a very serious time.

As far as gassiness, my ped recommended infants mylicon drops before feedings and at bed, and I think they were helping, but the midwife made me feel guilty about it saying there HAS to be a side effect to it and they never used them back in her day and ..... so I stopped using them.
I just try to burp him more frequently, although he seems to HATE being burped. He gets all fussy and pissed off. Mommy just hopes for what we call the "dry, man burps"- the real big burps without the spitup.

I'm still eating whatever I please for the most part. I'm taking it easy on the dairy and the garlic though (My midwife said that garlic makes baby want to nurse MORE) ....when I get the chance to eat that is!
I can't wait till the sling comes so I have use of both hands again!

I know the one-handed typing thing--my emails are suffering from that!

I figured the beans, etc. were potentially causing gassiness because of the fiber--is it something else? Since I assume it's the fiber, that's why I wonder what I should be eating...my diet consists almost exclusively of high fiber grains, beans, and produce now that I'm avoiding dairy! Is there something else in the suspect foods that might cause the problem?

My Dr. Sears book says he hasn't seen any scientific evidence that the gassy foods make gassy babies, but that mothers have told him it's true, so he thinks it could be possible, he just doesn't know why.
