So, spam me with your favorite girl patterns and girlie yarns

So Poppy is a girl, huh? Congratulations!

I'll do pattern-hunting tomorrow, if that's OK. I'm knackered now (it's 10.15pm here now.)

You're going to have so much fun making little girl things, Kati. Oh my gosh, there are so many patterns I am drawing a blank. Let me go look through my bookmarks! And I think I forgot to say congrats in the PAL thread, sorry. I'll say it here, CONGRATULATIONS!!! :

Okay, I'm back. Figured you would probably get a bunch of knit patterns so here's some crochet ones since I know you crochet also. And crocheted ruffles are just too cute!!

OK. If I were knitting for a baby girl due in August, I would knit:
Saartje's bootees
A matinee coat, pattern of your choice: I personally like the Debbie Bliss one in the summer 07 issue of Vogue Knitting.
Sweet baby cap
I'd consider a pinwheel jacket, but would probably be more likely to go for a kimono-style or other wrap. I LOVE the Dolly cardigan pattern by Martin Storey in Jaeger 29, if you can find it. There's a picture of the one I did for Skye on my ravelry account, if you want a peek.
I'd also look at a hat shaped like an apple, because I think that's going to be perfect for a harvest babe, and a knitted dress. Anouk is popular, but Knitting Pure and Simple do one too. Finally, I think she should have Crumpets

I second Saartje's Bootees. I knit a pair for my niece and they are adorable! I also love the little baby kimonos. LTK has a super cute little dress called the Smocked Frock. I have the pattern but haven't knit it yet.

Congratulations!

Yay for little girls!

I'll put a third vote out for Sartje's booties - I have a seamless version in my queue I'll pull up for you if you are interested. Don't forget Tulip Toes from Knitty and they had that adorable little apron top too - Katjia or something like it - you could make it a bit long and use it as a little dress.

I'll be back later with links!

I'm not convinced I like triangle-flap halter tops on little girls- I loved the pattern, made one, put it on Skye and started feeling like hoochie mama- all she needed was "jailbait' intarsiaed into her soakers and she was good to go . If you want an apron top, go with the LTK pattern.

eta: this could come out wrong, I know. Do you get what I mean? Katja could come across as trying to dress your baby girl provocatively...

i agree the katja is super cute but i would never let my daughter wear it it is in my rav. list but i have yet to make it for this reason
