I was more apprehensive about breastfeeding than labor...i mean, 1 day of labor verses year or two umptine times a day...
With DS i got thrush in the first couple weeks which lasted about 5 months. Thrush for us was very painful and absolutely ran my life trying different things to get rid of it. The first couple weeks I had bleeding and cracked nipples, and DS was such a long and particular eater (had to be in a certain room, certain position, and don't breath or move a muscle or he was DONE), so no feeding in public. It was really hard. I hated about 90% of the breastfeeding relationship but did it anyways as it was best for my son. Lasted 1 year when he sincerely self-weaned (not a strike).
But with Nora our latch is great (a little sore but nothing to scream about), and she nurses in 10 minutes and it just feels so good and is how everyone has always told me breastfeeding *should* be...i am so thankful!
Also with DS i was a constant leaker. A million breast pads a day for MONTHS, actually, up until the end of our year. This time i am engorged but am actually regulating and have gone through about 5 breastpads in the past week! WOW! I got lilypadz but don't even know if i need them! (i think it helps to have a Bravado bra, this thing rocks).
Anyways, just wanted to shout to the world...
I LOVE BREASTFEEDING!
i never thought this day would come!
