We're going to build a cordwood play house. Any experience????

We are going to practice cord wood building by making the kids a playhouse. ANyone done this? Has anyone build a house this way? We've read about how to do it and think it will be a fun thing to involve the kids with. Anyone ever done this?

I built a cordwood shed with my dad when I was 19 or so... It is a lot slower than you anticipate, and kind of tedious, but I love the end result. We built one wall half out of bottles, which is also really beautiful. I think you have a very good idea to try out a small project to see how you like it- once you have a slab in place, a small structure doesn't take very long to put up and gives you a good taste of what it is really like to build with the materials.

Cordwood was my mom's dream house style! she always talked about having some of the logs a little shorter than others to give little nooks to set knick knacks, kinda like built in shelves.

Hi,
If we can ever sell our house, we plan on building a cordwood house. We'll start out with a playhouse or small shed, too! I loved the link above for the bloggers building in NC. I would love to see their place IRL!
