how often do you wash your face?

I have acne.. I've been trying to wash w/ raw honey and it hasn't been great. I tried adding bs, using acv toner, and coconut oil moisturizer.. now i'm trying tto on the zits and moisturizing w/ jojoba oil. I was washing my face 2x/day but then I was thinking maybe that was the problem? I'm going to try just washing it at night. So far it seems less red and irritated.

I wash twice a day. In the shower, in the morning, I just use water. At night, I use soap or oil.

Maybe once a week? I just use water in my morning shower, and at night I am too tired to think about it. I use mineral makeup and I rarely ever get zits (although in my teens and early 20's i was hyper vigilant about washing and had pretty bad acne)

When I do wash my face I use Dove. And its usually if I've done a hard workout and my face is sweaty. In the summer I will wash a bit more because I get very sweaty and dirty working in the garden

I moisturize with coconut oil if I feel dry.

I'm not sure if oily skin is your problem or not, but it is mine.... I have been using this
http://simplypureproducts.com/oilcofawa.html
twice a day then putting a dab of tto on yucky zits and then a tto witch hazel (it is actually that same company's 2 part deoderant solution) on my entire face as a toner. Then I use their sweet cheeks moisturizer. I've really noticed a diffrence in zits and blackhead, yuck!! Plus I haven't had my usual shiny nose.

BTW, their mineral makeup is awsome too, rice powder based.

I wash once a day. I dab on some tto and then apply honey. I let it sit for a few minutes and rinse it in the shower. I use jojoba oil as a moisturizer. I'm not sure if I'm too keen on the jojoba oil yet...I think it may be making me more oily and I already use a teeny tiny amount. Every few nights I will tone with witch hazel before I go to bed. During the day, if I'm feely very oily, I will splash my face with water...this is maybe once or twice a day in addition to my cleansing routine.
BTW, I've been battling acne for 20 years now. The TTO/Honey routine seems to be helping a little. I think you have to give it time in the beginning because it probably draws out the nasties under your skin first before it actually heals it.

Once a week, really? Do you just leave your makeup on in between washings?

Have you tried a mud mask? I try to apply a green clay mask once a week, twice if my face breaks out. The green clay dries up the zits and oil on your skin. I leave the mud mask on for 20-30 minutes then wash it off with warm water. The next day, my skin feels smoother, tighter and seems to have a matte finish. As far as where to purchase green clay, I pick it up at my local co-op.
Hope this helps!

If this question was directed towards me..... I rinse my makeup off in the shower every morning. But I do sleep with it on. But its just a thin layer of minerals and I'm not that concerned about it. Thats one of the reasons I switched from liquid foundation.

I did forget to mention that when I wear mascara I use a remover on my eyes to take it off.

isn't the theory about facewashing & acne that too much washing = more acne b/c your skin is working overtime to try to stay moisturized and therefore produces more oil for each time you wash (even more if you use harsh/astringent cleansing products)? that's what i've heard, several times.

i wash my face daily using OCM (usually oilive, almond or jojoba oil) in the mornings. i rarely wear makeup but when i do i'll either do OCM again in the evening or skip it in the morning and only use water in the morning so i can OCM the makeup off that evening. i love it and my skin has never been in better shape with any OTC products.

Lotus.bloom, yes, I was directing it to you. Thanks for the info. I'm wondering if sleeping in the minerals would break my face out or not. I might have to try it. Sometimes I wear mascara, sometimes I don't. Would be nice to have one less step at night, since the kids won't go to bed until we go to bed, and we always seem to be running behind with bedtime.

Twice a day - morning shower and evening before bed. If I haven't worn any makeup, I just splash with water before bed.

I have found that the less I fuss with my skin, the fewer troubles I have. All that acne-fighting I used to do probably make my skin worse. If I'd just used more plain water, maybe my skin wouldn't have been as crazy.

Age has also been nice. My skin was horrid in my teens, broke out pretty constantly in my 20s, but in my 30s I usually like my skin! All those years of oil are paying off now.

This is what I think I'm finding. I've tried not washing my face before though and it didn't get any better. It's been almost a week- I only wash my face in the morning if I shower (I only shower a couple times a week) and at night and right now I have a few big zits (bigger than I usually get) but overall my skin is less aggravated.. We'll see how next week goes.

Once a day, sometimes twice. Before I go to bed I wash with either Oyin's blacksoap and honey fase wash or OCM as well. My oils are castor, jojoba, rose hip seed, a drop of lavender, calendula, and lemongrass. I'd like to try lavender, violet and pansy in my next batch.

The honey and aspirin face mask really seems to be helping too. Dissolve the aspirin in the smallest amount of water then mix with honey and apply. Do a test spot to see if you are sensitive to the aspirin.

Is this for acne?

I have acne (or I did until recently-still have scars and some healing bumps, but no new pimples) and I use the oil cleansing method morning and night.

Some people do better with less frequent washing, but I need to do it twice a day or there's trouble.

My skin has been awful since I went off the pill, so I am experimenting w/ different washing routines. Right now I wash 2X/day with Lush's Fresh Farmacy clay soap and moisturize w/ Aveeno. I dunno if it's helping or not.

Sorry I'm late getting back- yes, for acne. A couple pimples showed up a couple days ago and I have been doing the aspirin/honey mask and they are almost gone.

I wash once per day, before bed.

This seems to give my skin the time to recuperate between washing and not get too dried out. I am also acne prone, but its much better now that i am past thirty. i have some alba pineapple enzyme liquid face wash that I like pretty well.

I wash twice a day, once in the morning and once before bed to remove makeup. I'm back to using Cetaphil. Not exactly natural but many of the natural cleansers I've tried were too harsh or not suited for my sensitive skin. I used honey for a while and it just clogged my pores something fierce. I have had luck with the OCMethod previously though.

I think what you do to your 'acne' depends on the type of acne it is.

I've found that washing my face too often or with too harsh of cleansers, makes my skin more oily and tends to make me break out with zits (versus acne). If I'm gentle on my skin and use things that don't irritate it, I don't get surface zits (as I call them). I still get what I call acne and nothing I do seems to have much of an effect on that. My acne is usually deep and painful and takes for ever to go away. It seems to be largely related to hormone balance. It was horrible when I had a Mirena IUD. Since I had that removed, I only get an acne bump or two around my moon cycle so it's not too bad.

OCM with jojoba once at day -- at night -- has put an end to my lifelong acne. I think it also helps that I no longer pick my skin (who has time with two little ones, lol). Switching to mineral makeup may also have helped in my case.
