Is this a bad sign?!

naking

Okay charting mamas... I need some help! I was foolish & dtd 3 nights ago without protection. Upon waking I discovered copious amounts of egg white cm and my cervix was really low, soft and open. But today there's no more CM, and my cervix while still low, its firm and closed.

I was kinda creeped out finding the CM... but now with a closed and firm cervix...I'm really getting creeped out!!! Irish Twins?!? DO NOT WANT! Should I be worried? How can we tell if I really am pregnant? No blood test will be accurate with so many leftover hormones in my system, will it?

While it is always possible you ovulated, it's really unlikely this early. It is so rare for EBF mamas. I'd start charting your temperature and see what it does. If it's low or erratic, you should be safe.

Not sure about the blood test, but you could ask your HCP.

I would say that in about 10 more days you should know. However, I do agree with pp that it is unlikely.

Yikes! I would agree that a blood test wouldn't be all that accurate right now as you might still have hcg hormone in your blood that would skew the results. Same with urine. It is a wait and see kind of situation. Although it is not impossible that you could have ovulated it is highly unlikely if you are EBF your little one. Good luck and hugs.

I'm not Alpaca, but I learned to chart from Taking Charge of Your Fertility and I keep track of it on www.ovusoft.com. There is also www.fertilityfriend.com and I think that one is free (the other is free to post and stuff, but the program isn't).

your cm could be the semen. cervix changes positions during the day based on your sitting / walking / lying.

Oh, I'm totally sure it was cm (cervical mucous)-it was like my vajay jay blew it's nose. It was only slightly less viscuous than my mucous plug was.

As for the question about charting? I am NOT the person to ask-I'm a total newbie. I just started paying attention (and never even charted) a few months before I got preggo. I've perused one book. I recommend the book previously mentioned! Oh, and check out the family planning board!

Another possibility not mentioned yet is that your body is gradually gearing up to ovulate or that you had some random estrogen surge. When I finally ovulated two years after DS was born, I thought I could just go by CM and not bother with temperatures (never got those 3 hours of sleep you're supposed to have before measuring). This resulted in a bit of confusion and false hopes/worries when I had two EW CM episodes about a week apart. My recommendation would be to start charting temp's even if you have inconsistent nighttime schedules.

Oh--it also seems unlikely that you wouldn't have a gradual increase/change in CM if it's ovulation. We usually have a bit more warning than one day. But everyone is different, so if that was your pattern before it might be harder for you to use charting for the first cycle.

just back from my 6 week pp check. I asked mw about a low cervix and she said it's very common pp- more common in breastfeeding women pp.
