Water Breaking?

Not mine, but anyone else seem to notice how many mamas have had their bag of waters break before labor? I thought statistically it was more plausible for labor to start and *then* water breaking....? I just read that only 13% of women have their membranes rupture before labor, so why does it seem more like 75% lately??

I had AROM with my first two. My third...my water broke 18 hours before my labour started.

I had a slow leak with DS2 after days of prodromal labor @ 41w0d. With DS3 I was induced and had AROM.

I have noticed that! maybe we're having a rash in our DDC? I know very few IRL who start that way.

I keep wondering if mine will break first this time, with reading about everyone else's hahaha. It never has before but hey every labor is different right ?

Dh keeps expecting mine to break. With dd1 I was induced. With ds i had SROM, labor started a while later and he was born 20 hours after it first broke. I had a leak with dd2. Apparently dh thinks you can't go into labor until your water breaks. I told him very few women start out that way. Although sometimes I think if it happened at least I wouldn't know SOMETHING would happen soon.

With our daughter my wife's broke at 3am, and she was induced at 7pm the following evening. I mentioned that I wanted to go into labor, have my water break, ANYTHING! etc to my midwife and she said "Please don't wish for your water to break before you are in labor! It's so much more stressful..." which it is. So as of now I'm just hoping for a good ole contractions that get longer, stronger and closer together

There is a lot of water breaking. Mine has never ever broken until way into labor. I don't know if I want it to or not. It seems when it breaks before hand that it still takes a good 12 hours for things to really pick up and get movin. I can see how many women get pushed into pit when their water breaks before contrax/labor. I just hope for some good contrax. lol who was it that said it was irritating that her water broke, cause she was leaking all over? can't go anywhere or do much without a mess of pads and such lol.

Man I hope my water doesn't break, I don't even have pads! I use the Diva cup for periods so I just don't have them around. I bought some for post delivery but they are in a suitcase in the car.

Hmm, perhaps I'll have DH bring those up when he gets home. (1 car)

My water broke with dd. It took forever for contractions to start and I was just miserably soggy for a long time. I just had an appointment this afternoon and my midwife said I was 3cm with a bulging bag of water. So now I'm waiting for the big gush again.

Ha! Heather, you scared the crap out of me! I thought that after you scolded me about going into labor before you and leaving you all alone at the end of the month, you had the gall to go and leave ME all alone!

But yes, I was thinking the same thing about the water breaking.

I won't leave you Sara... We have sto stick together, they will be wanting to shut down the DDC before we even pop!

After reading all these replies, I think I will wait for my membranes to rupture when I am pushing....

My water didn't break until I was ready to push the baby out. I wish it would have because once it broke baby was out in a few pushes!!

I can see your DH coming home to you sitting in the bathtub. "I can't believe you left with my pads!!!"

Mine broke in a huge gush during labor. It was such a strange/good feeling sort of relief of pressure. Also nice to have it happen on it's own this time. But sitting on the wet bed was yicky.
