flouride

Just finished reading the SLS thread, but now I am wondering what is the deal with flouride? I am totally scared to get a toothpaste without flouride in it. I have extremly soft teeth, I'm talking cavities in all my baby teeth (not from not brushing) I even had to have them painted to try and keep bacteria out. Now as an adult I have one or more fillings in all of my molars, a root canal and a crown, I just turned 30 .

Im really confused, I would really like to keep my teeth, and am worried that my little ones have inherited my lously teeth. This is definatly a family thing, my mother (before floride in the water) had to have a few of her baby teeth pulled before they were ready to come out because of decay. What should I do?

Hi! I am no authority but I can tell you fluoride is poison and does nothing to keep your teeth from decaying. Read this: http://www.mothering.com/discussions...d.php?t=529174 and this: www.curetoothdecay.com and this: www.saveyourteeth.com

Does that help?

Well, I have to chime in here as well... We have well water, therefore, it has no treatment, fluoride or otherwise and I DO have all family members use a fluoride toothpaste. Now, my stepsons use a non-fluoride toothpaste at their mother's house and their teeth are really, really bad--cavities, quite a few have been pulled, etc. I have no idea if that is an indication of soft enamel that is a family trait (DH has really hard enamel) or if it's an indication that the non-fluoride toothpaste just do not work.

I have a rather soft enamel (according to my dentist) and have always used a fluoride toothpaste. Same for my son, I watched his brushing habits from an early age to make sure none was being directly ingested and all of his teeth are healthy and strong with no cavities.

It's a personal, family choice--and there is lots of data on both sides, but for us personally, fluoride it is.

I'm 29 and have never used flouride in my life and have never gotten flouride treatments at the dentist. I have never had a single cavity. My DH who has used flouide his whole life (he's 32) and refuses to give it up has had multiple cavitites.

Flouride experience

When using fluoride most of my life (before reading more about it not being used in many 1st world countries), I had all cavities and my teeth bled some.

I have not been using fluoride for the last two years and my teeth are stronger than ever and I am way past my fourth decade.

Good luck in your research.

I asked this question on DS a while back, and got a ton of info.
Here's the link to the thread: http://www.diaperswappers.com/forum/...light=fluoride

I live in town, and don't use fluoride for my 11 month old DD, but DH and I still drink tap water, for now.

Wow, thanks for the info.. We just moved to the country and we have well water and had it tested by our dentist and he gave us a rx for flouride. I just haven't had it filled yet and don't think I will now.
