An email from my grocery store

I don't know if this even warrants a post, but if annoyed me, so I thought I'd share:

"Baby Steps to Good Nutrition

How fast they grow! It seems like you just gave your baby his first bottle, and now he's ready to move on to something more substantial. With all the different types of baby food available, it can be hard to know where to start. Here are a few tips to make the transition to solid foods a little easier:"

Can we say eye roll? I know they are just trying to say something pithy about baby's growing up, but I was just frustrated by yet another example of bottlefeeding as the standard.

At least it included a $5/$50 coupon.

Ah, the good old bottle-feeding as the assumed standard.

Email them back?

If they sent that to me, I would be put off, too! I would totally send them an email explaining why the email upset me and the dangers of assumptions, as well as what they can do next time in order to improve wording to reach all audiences and include all mothers/families equally.

I'm definitely going to email or write them. Of course, I couldn't just reply back because it was one of those "do not reply" emails.

It's Giant in PA if anyone is familiar.

It makes $en$e. The grocery store most likely sells formula too.

That sucks! My grocery store had a full-page ad in their circular about the benefits of breastmilk last year. I wrote them a kudos email, and told them that's just another reason to love shopping there.

On the plus side, they didn't send a "try solids" email until your baby was well over a year. But, yeah, why not "fed for the first time" or something?
