Do you have a serger? You don't have to have one to do it, but it makes it a bit easier.

I use my regular machine & a zig-zag. Stretch the fabric slightly as you sew. It works best if you have a scrap to test on first to see how tight to stretch it for the look you want. I used it first to hem some knit pants that DD got too tall for. We just turned them into capris.

I've done lettuce edge with an ordinary machine too by using zig zag and stretching the fabric.

Ive got a super cheepo brother machine - nothing fancy.
I guess I'll have to experiment and see how it goes!

Would an over edge foot make this easier?
