Hi everyone! I was on here yesterday reading the 'where is thismama' thread but I couldn't post... damn you get hands busy with a newborn! Thank you for all the love and thoughts.
My girl is here, born May 6 at 343pm, still officially unnamed although I have a name I love, I just want to wait til I'm not so stoned from the birth high to make it official. She weighed 8lbs14oz and she is freaking BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!! She smells so good, that newborn smell is the best thing on the planet, man. And her head is silky soft and she has this little little bit of downy hair.
After the prodromal labour and all my anxiety about how it would go, I was blessed with the most fantastic labour and birth I could have ever dreamed. It was so good that after the birth I feared it was all a dream and I would wake and it would still be the middle of the night with random contractions.
I had an amazing birth team that included the_lissa, another good friend of mine, and two doulas... omg they were freaking fabulous. The five of us got me through all the way to 8cm without needing the midwife! I was calm and with it all through labour, but then when it was time to push I felt totally out of control and overwhelmed... exactly the opposite of my labour experience with my daughter where I found labouring really overwhelming and pushing manageable. I pushed this one out in 13 minutes though as opposed to nearly 2 hours... it felt like an unstoppable train, unbelievable.
She was born on the living room floor.

Crazy. My 4 year old arrived home with her father just in time to watch the birth, and she cut the cord. Amazing. The room was full of people who care about us and everyone was crying and laughing in joy... it was SUCH a joyful and love-filled experience I can't even describe it. I bet I won't even be an
around here for awhile I feel so airy and ecstatic.
My daughter had the cord wrapped very tightly around her neck, the midwife told me to stop pushing and it actually took her some time to unwrap it... she said she almost had to clamp it. I also had a big bleed due to a tiny piece of retained tissue, and almost got transferred to the hospital. The midwives worked so hard to avoid that for me though and finally found the problem and got the tissue out... I so thought I was gonna end up at the hospie for sure.
I will get a pic up as soon as I get a chance... I should get some downtime today as my 4 year old is going with her dad for the day. I'll try to write more birth details too at some point. Much love to you all, mamas!!!!
