My first 100% paper-free wrapping job!

I am so excited. I plan on sewing bags for christmas this year (bought the fabric on clearance in january). BUT, my DD's b-day is today and I just finished wrapping her presents in 100% cloth and fabric ribbon! I cut up a lavender bridesmaid's dress which will never be worn again, and just started wrapping. I used ribbon (mostly from the same wedding) to tie it, no tape, no pins, nothing. I didn't even finish the edges, I just tucked them in after I tied the ribbon on. I figure a little fraying isn't a big deal, it's not like it will get heavy use.

I also used cloth napkins to wrap the smaller stuff, more ribbon, looks awesome! It is much classier w/ the cloth than paper or giftbags. I am going to have to scour thrift shops for dresses in boy colors (and maybe wool suits for DH's gifts)

Oh, and I use my DD's artwork to wrap ALL presents that leave the house, no matter who they are for.

Just had to pass it on, I am psyched!

Ohh I love that idea.... I have a bridesmaid dress that is just hanging out in the basement.

I've seen a new beach towel used for wrapping too. Looks cool and is kinda like a bonus gift!

Awesome work mama! You'll have to take some pix! I usually use brown paper bags from the store. But now that we are using cloth bags that is not an option! I've sewed a few pocket bags for gifts last Christmas, I'll have to start using them more often!
Great tip!

yeah!

I serged together some and it gives me such a thrill to reuse them! After Christmas last year I got some $.99 yd christmas fabric and plan to use that this year. I save all ribbon I get to tie mine closed. I serge mine- I have a working serger but not sewing machine. I find it works best if I wait to see what I need to wrap tho and then make a bag- eventually I will end up with a large enough supply I will be fine but for right now I still need to make some depending on the size of the gift.
