Why, might you ask, am I rejoicing over a bowel movement?!?

Because it's been NINE days... NINE since I've seen one!

I know BF babies can go awhile without pooping by six weeks of age... but it was still starting to creep me out. I even took her in to a Ped. yesterday to see if I should be worried. We palpated her tummy-but there were no hard masses.. and she wasn't uncomfortable. So we just decided to give it a bit longer. I'm glad we did.

She went today, in her own good time. It was pretty much like a bomb went off in that diaper though. OMFG people! Buy stock in Swaddlebees! It was totally coated in a thick layer from the front lining all the way to the back, but never leaked once. NO ONE will EVER buy that diaper from me! It will NEVER sun out!

So, anyway.. if any of you are going through the same things with your LO? Be patient-try not to panic... and for god's sakes stock up on wipes.. when she blows... you're gonna need em!

I've never had a baby go that long between poops, but I've heard of babies that go even longer. I'm sure it would freak me out to wait that long and then I'd start wondering just how big an explosion it was going to be when it finally came out. Our last blow out I stripped David naked and took him straight to the shower. I had him upright against my chest and he leaked around a leg so it was all over both of us. Putting his butt under the sprayer in the shower was a huge save on wipes

And here we were freaking after four days...although we're having to supplement - since I wasn't PLANNING on having formula around, I don't know a whole lot about what that entails on the back end.

Anyhoo - with Leo getting a mix of formula and BM, the poops have been quite...interesting.

Yay for poop! Sometimes I wish Lizzie would take a break from the pooping, she poops 4-5 times a day!!! I'm so sick of wiping her butt!

Lmao. Yeah I think dd1 went about 11 days before she finally pooed. It was quite interesting.

DS is 5 weeks old and at one poop per day right now, but when DD was a baby, she got up to 10 days between poops at one point. Fortunately I was attending LLL meetings at the time and knew it was normal, but, like you said, they were some SCARY diapers when she finally did go.

My dd was the the exact same way! I was so freaked out when she first started going so long without one... Thank goodness for the lactation consultant. I know she thought I was a nut.
