Help me choose between these two sergers...

Which would you buy? Same price. Higher retail on the Brother, but better warranty on Janome.

I think you can't go wrong with either. Both get excellent reviews and are loved by their owners. Each offer a lot of bang for the buck and are known to be great little entry level workhorses. I'm partial to brother, but I wouldn't hesitate to buy the Janome either.

Not really an answer to your question, because I'm not familiar with either of those machines, but would you have local support for either one? I bought my serger last year locally and found the help from the sewing shop invaluable. I had a lesson that really helped me get to know my machine. If you already use a serger it may not be necessary for you, but, if like me, your jumping in for the first time, local support might be really helpful. Have fun sewing!

I don't know much about sergers, but I have been shopping around for one and those both look great and are a really good price. let me know which one you pick.

I've heard excellent things about the Brother. I couldnt find out much about this Janome- no reviews, at least. But the Brother gets tons of Kudos.

I have that same Brother serger and it's a good machine. I've had it since Aug06 or Aug07 * mommy brain i can't remember*

That said if i knew what i know now then when i started looking at sergers, i wish i would have saved up the $$ and went to a babylock evolve. I hate having to adjust the tension on the brother and aslo hate having to thread in a certain order when a thread breaks.

Psh, I just want a freakin serger. I've wanted one since highschool. Maybe my DH will let me get one... lol. I've only asked for one for x-mas every year!

I don't have any personal experience with that Janome model but I am in love with my Janome 634D! I had a cheapo Singer before and it was a constant pain in the neck. The Janome is practically perfect; easy to thread, no really issues with thread breaking, no tension issues etc.
