Dr. Bronner, natural body wash

We have been using Dr. Bronner as a natural body wash for months, but I have not been extremely satisfied with it for that use and my husband is really starting to complain. Currently I use about 3-4 parts water to 1 part Dr. Bronner in a foaming bottle. The chief complaints are that you have to use a lot to feel like you have washed everything. It basically just dissolves so you can't put it on a washcloth or anything and really clean yourself (like we could with previous body washes). Also the smell does not stay on your skin at all so you don't leave the shower with the fresh, smelly feeling. I can deal with most of this, but my husband is going to make me buy him store-bought body wash soon.

Does anyone have any suggestions to make a natural body wash or just a better way to mix up Dr. Bronner's so that it has more of the properties mentioned above? Should we use it straight from the bottle--that seems expensive if we do? Any thoughts?

I'd throw in some essential oils and see if that gives that "Fresh" smell for longer. Personally, I got used to no scent, and I feel kinda gross when have chemicals still on my skin that give that scent after a shower.

Why not skip the diluting part and just use it straight? Maybe on a wash cloth or on a loofah or one of those shower poofy things (that last one's probably not very green, though)? We use it straight and don't seem to have any problem...although there's less of an fragrance type smell and really more of a soapy type smell.

We just use it straight on a poofy thing. Works great.

I use it straight on a poof and it seems like it lasts forever with lots of foam. It's great for shaving b/c it lasts longer on the poof than the typical softsoap bodywash I use sometimes.

Yep, this is what we do too. A few drops of the unscented for my toddler, and lavender for DP and I.

When I really want a lovely scented shower, I use Aura Cacia Patchouli/Sweet Orange body wash. My my does it ever smell heavenly.
