What sock to do?

I just cast on and have my toe completed. I was going to do this pattern but after seeing how the yarn knits up I'm not sure. So what do you think? That or a plain stck. foot with ribbed cuff?

Sorry about the horrible pictures. I used my cell phone and am being lazy and not moving out of my chair. I'm surrounded by 6 windows so there is tons of light messing with the quality. The colors are pretty accurate though.

I'd go with the pattern.

Blah that's no help. I had already decided to go plain and then not and then back again. I think my problem is I know the colors can look muddy. The yarn is from a pair of monkey socks ( see here). I don't want to lose the pattern or get muddy fabric.

What I really want is my dang Vintage Socks book! Where did that go!?
