What Democrats Believe

Here are a few samplings...

That nation-building is always a humanitarian and just cause, unless it is undertaken in Iraq.

That anyone who said Saddam had weapons of mass destruction prior to the war was lying, unless his or her name is Bill Clinton, Al Gore, Madeleine Albright, Bill Cohen, John Kerry or Joe Lieberman, or the person ever served in the Clinton cabinet or as a Democratic senator.

That small-business owners are the heart of the economy unless they succeed, at which point they become "the rich."

That the sons of the upper-crust Northeastern elite are always and everywhere out-of-touch, unless they are named Howard Dean.

Honestly, if Briss here decided to post something "What All Republicans Believe", most of the conservative mamas would be justifiably upset. Can't we stick to specific facts and not all degenerate into crazed hyberbole?

FWIW, I don't like the whole "conservatives hate hippies" discussion either. I think that it is unfair to the many peaceful, happy conservative mamas here. I don't know how on earth we will ever get along if we are simply going to be ideologues. And if we can't get along here on MDC, how will we ever work together in the world?

Honestly, I don't think either party has the market cornered on hypocrisy and/or lying and/or playing fast and loose with the truth.

That is, of course, why I am an Independant. We are perfect in every way, you know.

At least Clinton didn't lie about our purpose in Kosovo. This administration has lied from the get-go, trying to justify going into Iraq. Several months before the war, even Wolfowicz admitted that humanitarian reasons were not good enough to justify spilling the blood of American troops.

As a liberal Democrat, I am not against small business ownersmaking a fortune for themselves. What I am against is them using the ingenuity of American workers to plan and organize production processes so the owner can turn around, fire the workers that helped make the company what it is, and offshore the jobs and the company so he can avoid paying taxes and make an extra buck on cheap labor. The workers, meanwhile, are told by this president that their engineering degrees and heavy investment in their own education is worthless, to go retrain at a community college.

At least Dean worked as an MD in underserved, rural US. George went off and bankrupted a few companies.

As for WMD, I guess we'll see if in the two years since Clinton left office until the war if anything might have changed regarding inspections and availability of WMD?

It's true, I do have thick skin. I went to the tattoo parlor today, to have "Death to America" tattooed on my face, but the needles kept breaking on my tough skin.
