Is anyone else taking progesterone supplementation for low progesterone? Mine fell 4 points in 4 days from 11.5-7.3 so they put me on it. I've never dealt with this before. I've never had it checked before either, or done hcg draws (mine where fine, doubling every 51hrs). If you are do you know how low your prog. got? Also my breasts where SO sore before starting it and since the first dose they don't hurt hardly at all. Maybe the pain was from it being low??

I'm on Prometrium,
I haven't had my prog. levels tested - I have a luteal phase defect, and so we already knew that I had low prog. before this pregnancy. I was supposed to start the prometrium as soon as I ovulated but we weren't trying this cycle and so I wasn't charting. I think I started taking it about 10 dpo? ish?
Anywho, I wish I had advice or info or answers about the sore breasts. Alas, I have none. What motivated them to check your prog. levels in the first place?

I had it tested with my hcg, my request. After the baby we lost almost 2 years ago when we started trying again my hormones where a mess. I had a lot of odd spotting and such, it turned out that my progesterone then was low and I took it a few times after ovulation to help with conception. It didn't work and we eventually decided to stop ttc. This baby wasn't planned so I wanted it checked for peace of mind and while my OB was okay with 11.5 (she wants it over 10) when it came back at 7.3 obviously that wasn't good and I started prometrium immediately. I'm a little upset with myself for not insisting on it with the progesterone at 11.5, but I even called the on-call OB to be sure it was fine to be that close to the cut off and she re-assured me. The only reason I got it tested was gut instinct.
I don't think I'll be relaxed until this one is in my arms nursing....

I am also but I never had my levels checked. I have a short luteal phase also which is why I am on it. I was also supposed to start right after ovulation but I was wasting it each month so I started as soon as I got a BFP about day 11ish.
My boobs are in no way sore either but when I was taking it and not pregnant then they were really sore. I just figured I needed it and I am not worrying about it. I will ask as soon as I get a care provider but there is not much they can do right now since I am almost 5 weeks and I am on progesterone.

I am on prometrium due to a loss this past Thanksgiving. I am six weeks and my breasts are sore, but no where near as sore as the pregnany without prometrium. Not even close. It's actually only been this past week or so that my breasts have started getting a bit sore. Before this week, it was only my nipples.
I have talked to DW about this and was kinda freaking because my breasts were not as sore as last time. We figured it may have something to do with the medication.

Thank-you SO much for the reassurance!!! I'm getting less nervous, it comes in waves lol. When I think about it my breasts hurt a ton right before AF and they hurt a great deal the 2 days before we found out about my prog. being low so maybe for me tender bbs mean low prog? I never had horrible breast pain with my other kiddos, I nursed through the first trimester of 2 pregnancies and it wasn't terrible as far as pain (just exhausting).

Just found out my level is 8.2 Going to pick up my script this afternoon. I need to be on it with DS so I had my levels checked.
Hang in there Taryn! Are you going on prometrium? how much? I'm scripted for 200 mg orally/day but I had some left over and from a friend and bumped it up to 200 mg 2x/day vaginally (because I've read it is much better)Hopefully my OB won't mind! I figure you can't have too much....

I am currently on 200mg twice a day for LPD also, was on it since 2DPO and had my blood drawn the day I got my BFP (11dpo) and we'll adjust my dosage when I get the results back (on Monday). I didn't think I was pg this cycle, I thought the progesterone was keeping AF at bay; low and behold BFP! and this was my first cycle taking the progesterone also.

Hi, All-
I started taking it yesterday. I have lost two pregnancies, and my awesome doctor found that my progesterone was borderline low. Her My initial plan was to wait until I got a positive pregnancy test before putting me on it, but I asked to go on it a little sooner since I miscarry so early (5-6 weeks).
I'm on 2-200 mg suppositories before bedtime.
After reading others' experience, I'm really hopeful... But we'll see what happens. I'm having lots of very strong pregnancy symptoms for about a week and a half (cramping, having to pee every 3 seconds, headaches, sleepliness, severe moodswings). This happened both times I've been pregnant before so I think there's a really good chance I am.
I'm very curious to see if the prometrium will help with the symptoms, and help the embryo stick better. DH and I are sort of superstitious about numbers so we believe the 3rd time will work.
Just out of curiousity, at what point in your pregnancies do your doctors want to take you off the prometrium?
I've heard the standard is 12 weeks, but a nurse at my doctor's office insisted I could only be on it 9 weeks (this was the same nurse who told me she didn't think I should be on the prometrium before I have a positive pregnancy but my super-awesome doctor overruled that).

I'm going to take it until atleast 12. My SIL was on it and stopped around 9w and m/c at 10w. I can't be positive if it did anything but I'd rather be safe.

I've been taking the little prometrium pills for about a week now. 2 twice a day, 12 hrs apart, but instead of orally, I'm taking them as a suppository. I have just notice soreness, in one nipple. Strange, but I guess it's the medication. Though no where near the soreness I experienced with my first pregnancy with DD and without prometrium. I had a miscarriage a year ago due to low progesterone. I tested only once and I remember it being 9. This time I got tested earlier and my progesterone dropped from 28 to 22 in a week. My doc would like my levels to stay above 20. I'm not sure how long I'll have to be on it, somewhere between 10 - 12 weeks. I guess we'll do another check around then.

When I first received them and saw them, I thought they were to be taken orally until I read the instructions "Insert 2 capsules per vagina."
My husband got a laugh at that, "What??? You have multiple vaginas now???"

Okay, I've been on the prometrium for about 2 or 3 days. Even though the suppository pills are small, they are a bit messy. I wake up with my pajama bottoms a little damp and some always seems to come back out in the AM. I'm glad my doctor prescribed them to be inserted at night.
Before I started taking the prometrium I was getting abdominal cramps. These cramps started a few days before I began any progesterone treatment and continued the 3 days I was on the Natural Woman progesterone cream. They really felt weird...somewhere between mild but annoying menstrual cramps and the feeling like my uterus was being stretched in a taffy machine. I have had on and off nausea and had spontaneous heartburn/regurgitation during the day. It's a very weird feeling as I am also VERY hungry.
After start prometrium, the cramping has mostly disappeared and I'm not having as much nausea. I was having extreme moodswings, too, which have mostly gone away (I'm still a little crabby).
However, now I'm even more congested--to the point I wake up in the middle of the night. It's causing me pain in my ears, and I've never had congestion there before. I'm also getting back pain.
It's really hard to say whether this is the fault of the prometrium or not. I know it mimics pregnancy symptoms, but I really hope this is the real deal. Some of this craziness started before I was getting hormones. However, since I had a chemical pregnancy a month ago, it could have just been my hormones settling back. I don't think it is, but I don't want to get my hopes up too much before seeing a BFP.
I don't know whether or not the prometrium caused my other symptoms to disappear. When I was pregnant last time, many of my symptoms disappeared around this time in my cycle.
The one thing I am certain of is it caused me to have super drowsiness the first couple nights, but that went away yesterday. I wish it didn't. It was nice to be able to sleep through the night the first time in a few weeks. I think it may be responsible for the crazy hunger and cravings I'm getting (I normally don't like dairy products but I keep wanting to eat them). I didn't have those during my first two pregnancies. Maybe that's a good sign things could be different (if I'm pregnant).
