What can I knit with this yarn?

I have a bunch of yarn, mostly worsted weight wool and a couple chunky, that I want to use. The problem is I don't know what to knit. I mostly just knit soakers, shorts and longies but I've got one and sometimes 2 of each in each color. I have also knit a couple of sweaters, hats and mittens. I tried some booties but they just didn't work. Some of the yarn is just scraps but I do have a few full skeins of some. Anyone have any suggestions?

I would try socks. I love making socks with different thicknesses of yarn, every pair has been different, and so worth knitting. According to EZ, you can just figure out your number of stitches per inch, and multiply by how big around you need them. There are tons of books to figure out the rest. Good luck! Oh, I can get a pair of women's sized socks from half a ball of worsted. Kids socks you can get maybe 4 per ball, but then you are stuck making 8 individual socks, all the same. SO BORING.

Do the colours work together? If so, I would start work on a blanket to commemorate your LO's childhoods.

Unfortunately, the colors don't go together. I considered making a scarf out of the chunky yarns but they look awful together. I'm terrible when it comes to color coordination.

Do people actually wear the socks you make? I've made a few pairs of booties and a pair of slippers. No one wears them. No one wears my hats or mittens, either.

How about a felting project? I love making felted bowls to use around the house and give gifts in. One Skein has some a pattern, and there are many on the internet.

Why not make hot pads?

Thanks everyone. Does anyone know of a place where I could search for patterns based on the yarns I have? For example, I could put in worsted weight wool and get patterns that use that. Part of my problem is that I have yarn but can't find patterns that use it or have patterns that use a different weight or type of yarn. I've tried a few times substituting but it's always been a disaster.

Yup. www.ravelry.com

There's a waiting list, but it's pretty short these days.
