I am somewhat concerned that I might be pregnant. I've heard that most mamas' milk dries up during pregnancy and my baby is only 7 months old! Hopefully this is all just a false alarm, but I had hoped to do child led weaning with her and if I am pregnant and my milk dries up, I am worried I might have to start pumping now to feed her expressed breast milk or feed her formula if I can't express enough. Is this a legitimate concern? Are there other mamas here who have successfully breastfed an infant while pregnant? Help! I am trying not to worry too much until I know for sure if I'm pregnant, but I can't help being a little concerned.

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

It's a legitimate concern. It seems unusual for a mom to keep enough supply for an infant through a pregnancy.

me too
Sorry, no suggestions here, but I am pregnant and my milk supply has gotten really low. I had intended to keep breastfeeding and my daughter shows no sign of wanting to quit. I don't know what to do. I've heard several of the things you take to increase supply are bad to take while pregnant.

I know of plenty of moms who nursed wee ones while preggo. Not every woman loses her supply. I nursedthrough my last two pregnancies and thouh my kiddos were a tad over a year both times, they still nursed very frequently. Usually though, if there is a dip in supply, it does not occur till month 4 and by then your babe very well may be taking far more solids than now and not need breastmilk as a main source of nutrition.

My milk supply decreased quite a bit within weeks of concieving, but many moms don't start losing thier milk that early. Try and get your hands on Adventures in Tandem Nursing. It talks a lot about nursing during pregnancy.

Hi, I'm in the same boat and just waiting another week or so before taking a test. My dh is just turned 10m. I nursed ds1 until I was 5m preg with ds2. He was almost 2 though and my breasts were just a little sore, so I think my supply was dropping? But then we only nursed before bed. this time I'm going to flip if I am since ds2 is so young. I have friends who nursed the entire preg though with a slight dip in supply around the 4/5m but it came back. I'm not sure if they pumped or not. I have that tandem nursing book-going to go dig it out now. Btw-are there any LLL groups near you? Maybe go to one if you do end up positive for some advice?
