The Official Kjoy2 Stalker Club Chatter Thread

Well I know that M will be making sure I spend plenty of time awake and naking tonight, and I know MDC will be seeing me through it. I swear there's been nothing but crickets and tumbleweeds here all evening so let's spice it up! How was your day? What did you have for dinner? Any weekend plans? Etc. etc.??

We had the weirdest day so far with M. He was awake from 9 am till about 6:30 pm, with maybe 3 10-15 min. naps in there. Lots of crying, and pretty much obsessed with nursing the entire time. We tried EVERYTHING. Pretty much totally baffled here. I'm so worried that when he wakes up we might have to do it all over again.
The thermostat in our refrigerator seems to be broken, and my expensive raw Jersey milk has gone bad. Have to call the landlord tomorrow I guess.
I made lactation cookies last night and have been snacking on them today. YUM!! My diet and water intake today have been abominable though. I was lucky just to get a chance to go to the bathroom by myself and take a 45 min nap today though.
I hope this is just a growth spurt and/or cold-related thing that gets resolved fast or I don't know what I'll do when DH goes back to work Monday!!!

I hope you don't have to do it again...that's a long stretch for such a new baby !! I am sorry about your raw milk, too, don't throw it out, though, cook with it (pancakes or something - use it like buttermilk - it shouldn't be ruined - just 'turning').
Good for you for getting a bathroom break, though, I swear I haven't gone to the bathroom alone for 5 yrs since my first was born ---- and now I purposefully bring the new babe with me, so I can have a minute alone with her

I hope you get SOME sleep tonight!

Oh, yeah, what are lactaction cookies? never heard of them.

Well, it looked promising there for a while-that M would actually be ready for bed! A good long nursing session, fell asleep at the boob...as soon as we lay down together though, no dice. And then he spit up what seemed like his entire meal. SIGH! That's doubly hard when nursing still hurts so much...to see all that milk go to waste.
I can't even begin to think what I can cook with an entire gallon of milk...lol. I can skim all the cream off the top for sure and culture it. For the most part the rest will be a loss I'm afraid.
Lactation cookies...coolest invention ever! I find that I'm having to fight my DH for them even! Full of oatmeal and brewer's yeast to maintain/increase your supply! And I used dark chocolate chips, for the antioxidants, of course! : Here's a recipe:

mmmmmmmm! thanks for the recipe I will make them this weekend! I will need to find a hiding place though...

should we guess how much kjoy2's babies will weigh?
my guess is at least 6 lbs each. Actually I just turned on the computer and the whole none yards just to check for an update. I just got done calming cryfest number one for the night.
I'll guess 6.5 pounds each, or maybe 6 and 7.

Ellystar, have you tried swaddling? My baby started out super easy and just slept all the time and now I'm having to fight him for it. For the last week or so, I've found that swaddling really helps.
I second the swaddling, and then I'm back off to bed.
i THIRD THE SWADDLING oops, caps lock, and I'll add white noise like the vaccuum cleaner/hair dryer for when you are really desperate!

Sarah, I love the name Lucas, I wish I could meet him! Does he have red hair, too? Have you posted pictures? I am hoping to catch up with emails this weekend - I have been meaning to write you - but I have only been lurking around at this ddc when I have internet access. :

My guess for kjoy2's babies are 7#7 and 7#10

Rats, no updates? I really hope everything's going ok for her. I hope nothing's jeopardizing her home birth!
I'm gonna guess that those babies will tip the scales at just over 7 lb each! And Head-Head will be the bigger one!

We did a lot of swaddling during his first few days earthside, he really seemed to need it. Then for 2 weeks he didn't need it at all. We tried swaddling yesterday and shushing and bouncy seat, but it only got us about 10 minutes of calm! And now he's fine.
All he wanted to do was nurse the whole time he fussed. Starting to think he really was hungry or something, but there's no way my boobs would have survived!
so he's better, then? maybe he was just tasting and enjoying the cookies
post #11 of 54
Up at 5am with a crying baby here, too, on a Saturday morning, no less! So glad I am not the only one. I had to comment, elleystar, because it is possible that the chocolate in your nursing cookies is making your baby fussy. I had the same thing with DS1 (wow, that is the first time I wrote DS1, up until two weeks ago he was just DS!). Anyway, chocolate didn't sit well with him and would cause the exact problem you describe, nursing a lot and then spitting it ALL up. I actually went an entire year without eating chocolate, which I didn't think was humanly possible, but a screaming, vomiting baby is a good motivator. When he was about a year old he outgrew the chocolate issue and I was able to eat it again.
Baby is asleep in the sling...creeping off to bed to see if I can transfer him and get some rest!

NAK
Oh great, dd was the same way yesterday ~ wanting to nurse ALL day and I made lactation cookies yesterday, too... and I just sat here and ate 3

Gaahh...stil'l no word from kjoy? Seriously? It's gonna be a long morning too! Here's hoping she's napping and nursing her cuties!

aloneinid...will file that away. But I've been eating chocolate pretty consistently and had no problems at all, and he's fine today despite continued consumption of the cookies. Could another food do it?? I can't for the life of me think if I've eaten anything out of the ordinary!

I'm joining up with kjoy stalker club. I keep popping on to MDC to check to see if she has gone into labor and now any updates on her labor progress several times a day for the past week. I am just so curious to hear how things went and how those babes are doing. I hope things are going well for her and those little ones.
Can't wait for an update...
I'm guessing 6#5 and 7#3

Wyatt is 6 days old now and I keep meaning to write a birth story, but every free minute I have, I'm coming here to check for updates on kjoy

elleystar - isn't there supposed to be a 3 week growth spurt? I can't even think of what todays date is but you're almost there right? Maybe that was it? Otherwise I would write down what you ate because its totally possible its another food. Hope he's still doing well and you can make up for some sleep
post #16 of 54
I'm here, too. Can't wait for the news. My twins came at 39 weeks and were 6-8 and 7-10 so I'm going to guess that her twins will be bigger since she's gone longer. I say between 7 and 8 pounds each.
Still no news! I've been NAK most of the time so I haven't been able to actually reply until now but I'm so excited for her! I hope she's holding her babies by now.

NAK

my twins were born at 36w6d and weighed 5.15 and 6.11 - so, I'm going to guess that kjoy2 is having 7.11 and 7.14 babies... i nearly ventured to say 8.2 - but i would't wish that on any twin mom!

good luck kjoy2!

also NAK... stalking like the rest of you
