in consultation with a LC i began taking motillium when DS was 2 weeks old due to failure to gain weight/losing weight. he's now 9.5 months old. i began by taking 3 pills 3 times a day and increased it to the maximum (4x4) after about 2 weeks when i needed more of a boost. i stayed on that dosage for a while and then slowly, slowly began decreasing the dose all the while monitoring his weight gain. he has done fine, and i kept reducing. but it's a scary process and i'm always afraid my supply will go down suddenly. i just dropped one more pill today (i usually drop one pill every couple of weeks). currently i am taking 5 pills a day. is this really a negligible amount of motillium to be taking? is it having any effect at all at this point? at what point can i just stop? (at 3 pills a day, 2, 1?).
anyone have an experience they can share? also, the LC said sometimes motillium is needed with one baby and not with the next (or previous). for myself i want to know why i was unable to make breastmilk on my own and see if there's anything i can do about it for the future. the LC also said sometimes there's no clear reason why a woman doesn't make enough breastmilk. i'm thinking to test my thyroid function - maybe this was a factor?

I can imagine the worry you have when you drop a pill. But since you have slowly gone from 16 pills a day to 5 pills a day, you must be doing it right!
Can you continue to drop the pills slowly like you were doing before?
