Help a new knitter please

So, I am psyched that this is my first "not a rectangle" piece! But I am so confused about what to do with the back side stitches. I am making this and I am at the end of the body part, but am confused what to do with the back as it says leave the back half alone & begin knitting flat. Am I supposed to put the back on stitch holders or start with straight needles? Thanks for any help!!!

Hmmm. It does look like you'll need to put the back stitches on some kind of a holder; for that many, I might use a length of yarn threaded through the stitches and then loosely tied (or not, depending on how long the yarn is!).

So then presumably you'll have your working yarn ready on the right side of the front, ready to do a RS row on the bodice. And when you get to the end, you'll just turn around and purl back. So you'll be working back and forth on the front piece only, using either your straight needles or your circs (both can do flat knitting).

Then it looks like the only reason you come back to the back stitches is to bind them off.

It's a cute pattern! Let us know how it goes!

Yep what the previous poster said. You could actually bind off the back pieces and save yourself a trip, just make sure to get the correct number for the front/back and then work the front piece back and forth. I did have a reason for the way I did it with the bind off later but it's been so long I don't remember exactly. I think it mostly had to do with wanting it bound off in the contrast color,

Thanks ladies!!! If this turns out ok, I'll DEFINATELY be posting pics I'm thrilled to be making something that's not a dishcloth or a scarf!

I think I'll try just binding off the back first, that seems easier. You all rock!!!!!
