I've been having crude from my nipples for months but today

I got milk!!!

Isn't it a bit early at 22 weeks?
I read recently that milk can be mature at 16 weeks, so 22w isn't that early.

Man, I wish I would start making a little more in there. I am nursing my ds2 who is 2 1/2 and he would be ecstatic. He still BF just as much but it doesn't seem like anything is coming out. Just a clear watery substance.

I have noticed that in the last wk or so there has been a little more for him to get while nursing and have also noticed the dried stuff on my nipples too. I am 22 wks also.

I remember last time when I was pg w/ds2 and BF ds1 he was so happy when my colostrum came in, JACKPOT! But I can't remember when that was.

If you ask my 2.5 yo dd she says I still have milk...I am doubtful. But isn't it exciting to know that your body in preparing to nourish your lo.

My DD is 19 months and says I still have milk. I don't think I do, so I'm wondering if she just doesn't understand? Anyways, I would love for my milk to come in. Colostrum even for that matter! My colostrum came in around 25 weeks with DD1.

My breasts have been hurting lately... I think they're getting bigger... again. I don't know if that means anything though. I'll be 22 weeks tomorrow.

Mine hurt, downside of all of this

People are asking about the milk, but I'm afraid to express it, they claim it can start labour

But yeah so many nurse while prego, so it's confusing.

I am hoping this is a good sign I won't have low milk supply next time!

DS says ninnie is coming out when he nurses but i dont hear him swallowing. If I have a white bra or tank on i see colustrum stains on them. So maybe my little one is right when he says something is coming out. But i think it's very little

I've been getting colostrum for a little while already. I'm thrilled and hope this means that I'll have a generous supply of milk once the baby is born. I'm expecting my first and I really want to be successful at breastfeeding.

Our bodies are amazing...

I went to a lactation conference, long before I was pregnant, and found myself able to express milk by the end of the week... So 22 weeks isn't too early..mommas that have early premies have milk too

Is it leaking or what? Maybe this is a stupid question but how would I know if I have milk?

I was finally able to express a little colostrum today, too (I'm 22 weeks). DS has been nursing the whole time and seems just as interested as ever, so I'm thinking he must be getting something out of it. My milk didn't come in until day 4 after DS was born - maybe it'll come in early this time? DS doesn't seem to mind the colostrum, but I'm a worrywort and wonder if he wouldn't prefer milk...

Colostrum is super yummy to little toddler nursers. My oldest loved it, and was really excited when I had milk for him and new baby brother to share. I am looking forward to when my ds2 and the new baby can have the same experience.

And really looking forward for this extreme pain to go away. I remember that last time I BF while pg it was not nearly this painful. It hurts so bad that when my ds2 latches on (especially to the left side for some reason) my toes actually curl.

You know what's interesting is that i can not express any colostrum..it's almost to painful to cont after a min or so. But DS3 still nurses away and doesnt show any sign of stopping any time soon. He'll be so surprised when i do get milk again when the baby comes...i hope that he will leave enough for the baby...lol

Bf, or pumping, or expressing while pregnant will NOT start labor. It can give you not fun bh's, and will speed up the labor once established but in a healthy pregnancy there is no harm done.

I'm getting colostrum leakage, but just a tiny ammount. I'm not bf right now though.

Maybe a TMI question, but I have what looks like dried skin sloughing off my nipples. Is that dried milk or just a weird-me thing?

Idk, i'm having the same thing... lots of dried skin coming off. I just figured it had something to do with my nipples preparing for the baby.

As far as I know, early colostrum doesn't equate with how much milk you'll get. I just didn't want any mamas who don't get any until later to worry that they will have low supply! As it is, I got colostrum in my last pregnancy at the normal time and had supply issues so you never know which way it's going to go based solely on colostrum. But if it makes you excited to breastfeed that can only be a good thing!
