Hi

I want to make a cover for the comforter.... I am hoping it will be cheaper than buying new! What type of fabric would you use? I am super new to sewing and fabric types.... please help me!

I would buy flat sheets. They are big and made to withstand lots of washing. And you can always find lots of them at thrift stores.

you can also find a print you love and buy enough yardage to peice it together. then you will have spent half as much and have something really beautiful.

Is there a specific kind of fabric I should get?

I want to do the same thing, only I want to find some sort of cool, funky, fabric. Where do you guys buy/order your fabric from? I really like the prints from Anthropologie, but they are so expensive. If I could something close to that I would be in heaven!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would get a cotton, as it will stand up the best to washing. For price, I would probably go with a wide muslin. I can find muslin at Joanne's in 120 inch widths (that's 10 feet to save you the math). If you have a coupon, you can get that for just a couple dollars. And, since it's cotton, you can dye it, stamp it, paint it, etc. fairly easily.
