We have never had a flea problem, but this weekend we moved to my mom's house in another city...their neighbors have 3 dogs that are poorly taken care of and always in the backyard, and BOOM...now our dogs have brought fleas into the house. My poor female is broken out in hives from the fleas.

I don't like the idea of the gels that go on the neck...we tried that once and I was scared to death to touch them. I'm pregnant now and have a toddler, so I really don't want to use the gel stuff. What about the pill Sentinel that works for both fleas and heartworm? I'll be taking them to the vet this week since all we give them right now is Heartguard which does nothing for fleas...I'll need a new RX for them. I'm wondering if Sentinel would be good enough and the safest way to go.

As for the yard...what is the safest spray to use, and can I just put it around the fences? Searching back through old threads it seems chemical is actually better and safer than herbal in this instance, but I'd like to know if there is a safer way to spray or the least chemical kind I can use.

Thanks for any advice
