did you give your baby a bath yet? I haven't and I'm sure when it happens he is NOT gonna like it. He looks pretty clean except for his hair still has some birth junk in it. Just wondering whats normal.

No I haven't given her a bath. She has some vernix in the creases in her legs, and had some blood in her ears but that is gone now. I'm not planning on it anytime soon... don't wanna upset her and don't wanna wash off that once in a lifetime brand new baby smell.

I've not bathed my previous two for at least 10 days to 2 weeks outside of necessary clean up in regards to diapers.
A note, a little olive oil on the bottom really works to keep the first meconium poops from sticking to their skin.
The vernix just seems to vanish into their skin.

We gave Declan a bath around 4 days old, mostly cause his cord was kinda smelly and we wanted to give the skin around it a wash. I figured he would flip out but we still had the space heater upstairs from the birth, so we used it to heat the bathroom up nice and warm before we went in there. I ran the tub pretty deep and took him in the water up to his armpits. He didn't even make a single squawk, just floated and looked around. It was fun! Much different from DS#1's first bath!
Second bath was Friday night, not quite so successful - we did the more traditional shallow bath and he was screaming the whole time. But I'm scared to get in a deep tub again cause last time made all the chapped skin come off my nipples!!

I'm not a hb mom so I hope it's okay that I answer but finley loves taking a bath with me. Her first one was at 3 days old and she was SO calm you wouldn't believe it. I got a lot of pictures!
I don't really do it with getting her clean in mind, I just like the cuddling & how relaxing it is for her.
